It is realy sad that just a few people can rule and the opinion of the majority doesn't count. :(

Santa is not happy.
Yup theyve really stolen christmas there. Im sure all the kids went home crying that they now have a winter break instead of a christmas break

They might as well call the break the winter of discontent (I may be going to far but still)
I think not calling it Christmas break is a bit extreme after all has any none Christian kids gone to school in protest?

I seriously don't think the kids give a damn what it's call as long as they get the break. It's parents who have a hyperspaz about the name.

I think both sides are being rather silly and childish.

"Those Bible-thumpers want to call it Christmas, infringement, infringement!"

I'm a student. Frankly, as long as I get time off, you can call if national spagehtti worshiping week for all I care, as long as you dont stop me playing Counter strike and seeing my gf.
Anyway, christmas has been changed from a christian festival into a secular celebration of friends and family, so calling it crimbo doesnt matter.

Do we really live in a multi-cultural nation, or does America have it's own culture? I know that is off topic, but it is an interesting question and I did start this thread.

well unless you kill all other races except yours in your nation and stop immigration then I think your multi-cultural
On the one hand, since when has the break had to do exclusively with Christmas?
On the other hand, everyone is used to Christmas being made a big deal of and within the break, so what does it really matter what it's called?
In the end, why does anyone care enough for it to make the news?

A slow day for news, apparently. One wonders how they find the time for slow news days these days, what with all the erm... actual news happening all the time, and not this backwoods wordplay bullshit and attendant breast-beating and teeth-gnashing.
Call it... call it the 'Solstice Break', the 'Year's End Break', the 'Ski Break' or just call it a two-week break or anything else that would seem pleasant. But just don't try calling this story 'news'.

It's been called winter break up here for years and years. I don't think it was ever called "Christmas break" when I was in school. It was never really something I thought about. So long as the kids get two weeks of waking up at 11:30 and playing outside, I doubt they give a holy hell what it's called.

It was called Christmas break when I went to school up in Belmont, MA in the 1950's and early 1960's.
