What would happen?

I am just curious to see everyone's ideas as to what impact it would have if American troops were pulled from Iraq this very day and the war was just "dropped" as is?

Iraq would definatly get into civil war, various of their neighbours might jump in and try to conquer/divide Iraq.

Iran, who would proceed to butcher the Sunnis in retalitation for Saddam, and then they would totally waste Israel. A terrible slaughter would be the outcome.

Despite the fact that I'm vehemently opposed to the war, it would be incredibly irresponsible if we just left. Now that we created a huge pile of shit, we have to clean it up. After all, America kicks ass and can do anything, right?

Damn! I've been gone for only like two or three days and I've missed all these good debates! Shiiiiit! My post count has suffered. :p

Iran would probably go in first, but the Turkisch kurds would then jump in, Syria and/or SA would try to get to the iraqi iol wells before the Iraniens or kurds got them and so on. Yes, terrible slaughter would certainly follow, as in all civil wars.

At a rough guess there would certainly be some sort of exclamation of shock and dismay forthcoming from the Albanians, Armenians, Australians, Azerbaijanis, Britons, Bulgarians, Czechs, Danes, El Salvadoreans, Estonians, Fijians, Georgians, Italians, Japanese, Kazakhstanis, South Koreans, Latvians, Lithuanians, Macedonians, Moldovans, Mongolians, Netherlanders, Norwegians, Poles, Portugese, Romanians, Slovakians, Ukrainians, and Tongans who would be left behind.

I'm of the opinion that the Iraqi government would implode. Its doing really badly as it is.

But here's the paradox: We invaded a sovoreign Muslim nation that had down nothing to incur any aggression(or at least America's aggression) Al-Qaeda and scads of other ist organizations instantly used this invasion as a catalyst for their movement: Their argument? America is intent on conquering the Middle East. Join us so that u may defend your homelands! And from the young Muslim mens' point of view, why SHOULDN"T they join the ists? The longer we stay the more Iraq's stability seems to deteriorate. But if we pull out it'll go to hell in a handbag for sure. Our soldiers are stuck in a conflict with no end in sight. :(

There are Mongols in Iraq? I thought they hated us or at least said they hated us, being in China’s sphere of influence and all.

Anyway, if we pulled out and used those troops to actually protect the US, I say I’d be pretty happy.

By the way, the war is over. It’s an occupation now.

About 180 of them, I believe, but hey, at least they are showing some more restraint than the last time they invaded the Iraq area and racked up a bodycount of about a quarter of a million enemy dead. Its not as if taking Baghdad by force is a stunning new idea or anything.
