My favorite sport to watch is Basketball and Soccer
American Football, of course.
NCAA Football is the one to watch, though.
Ah, nothing beats watching grown men in rubber boots cast their lines and wait for hours in anticipation until the fish bite. (Ha! :D Just kidding. Soccer)

Look up a sport called Hurling, its one of, if not the, the most skillfull and fastest field games in the world. Its fantastic to watch.
Out of the sports on the pole, id pick soccer or basketball.

Rugby Union.
Rugby League is ok too, but Union for me! (esp the Leicester Tigers!!!)
It's got to be cricket; complex, interesting, exciting, cliche-free and with the ability to produce nailbiting finishes that surpass any other sport.
Yeah Rugby is the better and more exciting then footballThat's probably why so many countries play it :D

All a matter of personal taste and opinion, really. Rugby's nowhere near as strategic as our Football, though.

Football's the best (real football, not the American one with body armour and a rugby ball)
Although Rugby is very entertaining to watch, Worcester fan here!!
they dont wear pads though, rugby players are real men *ducks for cover as hail of abuse is fired*
im joking before anyone takes it the wrong way

Joking, maybe, but would any of you *really* wanna go up against a 6'5", 300-pound lineman who's bred for doing what he does, WITHOUT wearing pads? I didn't think so.
i used to play winger for a rugby club so i could probly get past him, wouldnt like to have a fight though

I just like play football more than rugby. watching is a different way.
For American football fans the St.Louis Rams are going to be good and the Atlanta falcons are winning it all

So far, "other" is winning! :p
I used to love watch football (U.S.) and hardly ever missed a game on TV. Now I hardly ever watch it, but I am getting into baseball more and more, and even go to some of the games of our local MLB and minor league teams.

Or a receiver. Either would be better than what he's doing right now.

Seconded.
Although I do enjoy the cricket. In fact i say if we hadn't declared we could have won, and beaten the Aussies.
Cricket? I did a project on it in grade 11, and I still don't understand it. Maybe if I knew how to play, I'd enjoy watching it. In the poll, I voted Hockey. So much violence, it's very entertaining. There's practically no rules. Plus, it's a great Canadian sport. :D
we shouldv declared earlier than we did i think
Good one!I was being sarcastic...
(I don't really like rugby, though I'll admit its better than American Football)

Should have declared earlier, and should have caught more of them damn dropped balls (although to be fair the Aussies dropped theire fair share aswell)
Just wait, 4th Test, we will put England back in the lead

Also just noticed no-one has mentioned motorsport at all, that is one of the best (BTCC, DTM, WTCC, WRC, + support championships, F1 for the atmosphere, could do with lots of improvements, and Ferrari to get their act togethor for the sport and stop being so ignorant and basically ruining the US GP that could have been another win for Kimi :(

You tend not to have time to ponder startegy... when you have 3 or 4, rather large, twenty stone men running at you, intent on trying to break you so that you'll drop the ball.

That's why you really can't compare the two sports. They're very different from each other.

If you want to see a bunch of bloke driving around in fast, expensive cars you should go to the City of London at about 4:30-5pm and watch all the merchant bankers leaving for the club.
I really can't see the point in motorsport.

Rugby is less stop/start too, so you don't have the same set pieces going all the time, although your average test rugby side has about 40 backline moves that all 22 players have to know, including the reserve prop, while gridiron strategy seems to be all about the quarter back linking up with someone.

Footy just beats Rugby for me. I do however, like the atmosphere at Rugby matchees in that fans of both teams sit with eachother, with some mixed friendly banter. If that happened in football, every game would be a bloodbath. But then again, the atmosphere in a football match (specially with Sheffield Wednesday :D ) is something incredible

Well the old addege says that football is a gentlemans game played by thugs and rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen. And it's true.
Plus rugby doesn't last as long.

cycling
road cycling that is, not on the track. probably the toughest sport apart from iron man that there is, combined with the tactics, the scenery... easily my favourite and unlike football (soccer, my 2nd favourite) I never get bored with it.
Real shame that I live in about the only developed nation in the world (UK) where 99.99% of the population know absolutely nothing about the sport other than that there's a race called the Tour de France, which they don't watch anyway, and know none of the tactics either. Got to say, if athletes ran or motor cars drove in the same style that people raced bicycles I'd probably enjoy those sports too, but the whole "just go as fast as you can to the finish" thing just bores me.

Now that's a spectator's sport.

Personally I like to watch football but really only the Internationals friendly or otherwise supporting England and Republic of Ireland, never really got into the whole supporting a team thing, it's a different mentality (male??) to me! Also like watching athletics, particually swimming and the para olympics is always a worth a watch!
With regards to what I don't like to watch F1, Snooker, Golf and cricket seem about as exciting as watching paint dry!
Rugby to me just seems to me just an excuse for big burly men to get close together and injure each other does not seem to be much skill in it to me - but then I'm not an expert and it's just my personal view! :p
American Football, and College Wrestling.

I think we have so many football fans because the season just started right>?
While I do enjoy watching soccer when it's on (a rare event in Michigan), my sport is good old American Football.
It's the strategy that does it for me, but I will still never understand why coaches continue to punt on 4th and short inside the oppenent 40 yard line. Might as well go for it, I mean if you're that unsure of your team, the opponents will be back at the 50 in a couple plays anyways.
New season, everyone's undefeated...so Detriot Lions for the win.

I love football period, whether the season is on or off. I've played it since I was a small boy, and it's only pre-season. Real fans don't like it, only when the season is on.
