You'd have to understand that 2 and to, that you and u, that 4 and for, sound the same. That generally means you are an English speaker. And it's usually only the native speakers that feel free to butcher a language that way.

Ebonics!!!!!!!!!

Ebonics was an inherently racist idea which suggested that blacks lacked the intelligence to learn normal English and so had to be addressed in a debased form of the language to ensure comprehension.

I'll say Florida has an excuse. It's a "second chance state". If you screw up your life badly enough in the Northeastern USA you move to Florida, where nothing special is expected of you, and start over.

Some of the people there speak actual foreign languages...

Don't forget the Texas German dialects; there's only a few thousand (at most) speakers left, but they are still there. :)

Well, the first part of his name, 'ze' could be a play on the French accent for the word 'the' and 'barrio' is Spanish, so perhaps he's trying to intimate that he comes from a mixed linguistic background and therefore has the right to spell the language the way he learns it by reading the names of rap songs:)?

I'm from Cardiff in the principality of Glamorgan, Wales

though soon I'll be moving to uni in Aberwystwyth, in powys?, Wales

Wales is in the UK by the way

don't make fun of his spelling

I'm dyspraxic (its annoying to have a condition that I can't spell) and so I can't spell in English (I can in most other languages much better)

also he might be using a local dialect (I sometimes slip into welshness e.g. she do do my head in she do do (strangly this acctually makes sense))

My Cree is pathetically non-existent. We don't have that many native speakers here, so I wouldn't even know where to turn to learn some. :(

Ah...Laerod is correct. If you are not from the US, you may state your nation of residence, but not what city, state or territory. Only Canadians get to list their province or territory. I think Mexicans are given the green light as well. But no one else :p

That's the fun part about it...Cree is so completely unrelated to any of the other languages we might be able to sort our way through, that it really offers no contextual or linguistic clues for non speakers, and is therefore confusing enough to drive someone mad!

Edit: hey...wouldn't it be interesting to have a "Learn 'x language'" thread? Useful too....hmm....and we could use the free wav. hosting to do pronunciation guides...do you think we'd be allowed to do that?
