No, it's not the vile war-mongering Americans or the British or the evil Jooos or the muslim-killing Hindooos. It is the great and glorious Kingdom of Saudi Arabia !

And what do you hear from the "muslim world" about this?

Nothing. Not a pipsqueak.

Well I've always said that Saudi Arabia needed to get its shit together...Now my theory has been confirmed.

Idiots...

Well, to be fair, there is something very attractive about a philosophy that believes that God should have no physical representation on Earth, lest that construct ever be elevated in importance above that of people. And indeed, a kingdom that buries its royalty not under a pyramid, but in an unmarked grave as is the custom of citizens of any status in that society.

So, top marks for concept. :)

The historical destruction is kinda crap, though.

Apparently it's only religious oppression and desecration if it's being done by a non-muslim.

Why couldn't we do this with the Vatican?

/I kid, partially. The Vatican would be good if there were no people there.

This sounds kind of hard to believe. I'm not saying it's not true, I'm just surprised this is the only place that I've heard it.

I don't think it would be a good idea to tear the vatican down. The place would make a great museum of art and history.

Tell you what, we could keep it like it is, and get all the people out, or salvage the valuables, and then build a parking lot. Win-win. ;)

I read the actual article in The Times newspaper a few days ago. However, I have not seen any coverage elsewhere.

Can I have some of the valuables? I vaguely remember seeing a reliquary containing the dessicated tongue of a saint last time I went. That would be a great conversation piece for my living room.

You won't.

Only when there is some political machinations and pointscoring involved, will you see the "spontaneous" protests. Like how the Koran desecration protests started when a certain Paki politician (Imran Khan) pointed out the newsweek article weeks after it was published.

The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel wouldn't be so easy to put into storage.

A living room of creepy displays, no doubt!

Nothing. Not a pipsqueak. That's cause Saudi makes more money from a hotelthan it does Muhammad's home.

As soon as Mecca stops being profitable, "Look out, Rock".

(As soon as the Wahabbis stop being useful for controlling the population and propping up the House of Saud, "Watch-Out Wahabbi"...)

We could finally detach it and make it a wall. It would be a lot more ergonomically sound.

I just want to display a creepy chunk of a long dead holyman in my livingroom. I'm not looking to get rich off of it.
