In a James Bond film I once watched, James Bond stated words to the effect of "You communists never have a sense of humor." This thread isn't intended to be about James Bond movies, though. The topic is, do you agree or disagree with this statement? Can you cite any proof?

I'm a socialist, which would probably be close enough, and I have a sense of humor. I like AFV and stand-up comedy.

the one joke i actually ever tell is based on a communist joke about the kruschev stamp that wont stick on an envelope. it turns out that instead of spitting on the back of the stamp the people are spitting on the front.

i substitute nixon for kruschev. im pretty sure im the only one who finds it amusing (but thats enough for me)

The State gives us our laugh rations, and we make sure to laugh as a single, united people. Disorganized laughter is oppressive and leads to awkward feelings, which harm the common working man. *nods*

I took that political compass whatsit and ended up in the lower left corner, with a -8.87 and a -8.8 something or other, which makes me pretty darn communistic by the standards of the test, and I'm pretty quick with a sarcastic jab and twist.

So... yes, they do, but it's usually widely discounted. And occasionally reported in Moderation.

Depends, what do you consider a sense of humor. Stalin (it has been suggested) would invite guests over for dinner and after they had eaten would claim to have poisoned the soup...

Lenin was known for his biting cynicism and sarcasm, "They (the capitalists) will sell us the rope we will hang them with".

A better question is whether the system of Communism was tolerent to humor among the citizenry. The evidence shows that it was not (the same goes for individuality, creativity and pragmatism).

How many communists does it take to change a lightbulb?
None. The inherent contradictions within the lightbulb will force it to change itself.
