My sister doesn't anymore (she's 13, I say it's a phase, much like her vegetarian one) because, and I quote, "Pigs are quote, and smarter than dogs." She has no actual arguement against the consumption of pork, it seems. Oy.

I find that plain pork is only edible if it's good quality and complimented with a very good sauce. Anything else is just rubber.

Bacon on the other hand is one of life's great joys.

On Sunday I roasted a pork loin that's so tender it's like slicing into warm butter. No sauce, just crusted with spices.

I actually used to like sausage. Then I found out what it was made of and went off it for a while. . . . then I came back to it. Then, when I was about sixteen, I learned that I had inherited my father's pork allergy. If I eat too much of it, I get a migraine. Talk about a fast way to hating the other white meat . . . .

loved pork, ham and bacon when I ate meat. I don't miss it cuz I have vegetarian ham and bacon now, which is pretty tasty. I used to cook in a Czecheslovakian restaurant and made some super delicious porked up meals (roast pork, bbq rbs, pork perogies...) but my fave meats were beef and salmon.

I do eat pork. It is one of the biggest food products in my country and it is more tasty then beef. All those vegan knock-off products of bacon and hamburger patties in my opinion are gross.

My buddy Will and I went to a small restaurant where our mutual friend Yam had just gotten a job as a cook. We thought it was a sould food place. We were ready to get some fish and grits for breakfast, but it turned out that it wasn't soul food, and they didn't have fish and grits. It was a restaurant owned by a black muslim family though, and all the breakfast meats were beef-based. I ordered eggs and beef sausage. You just can't substitute for pork.

You can't know until you've tried it. Tastes almost just like real ham and bacon actually. You man not give a shit and will knock it even if you haven't tried it but yes, it is tasty.

I've tried breakfast meats made with beef instead of pork (see the post above yours). I didn't like it at all. Is the vegetarian version better?

The vegetarian breakfast sausages don't come close to being as good as the real thing. I get my veggie meats from a place that imports their stuff from asia and pretty much only supplies asian markets and vegetarian restaurants. You can't find it at trader joes or anything (which is a damn shame) - The vegetarian bacon can be found at trader joes though - morningstar farms.

They also have some really gross veggie meats too though.

Pork is wonderful, as long as it is in the form of barbeque spare ribs. Anything else....bleh x.x

Seeing as how you have only tried some of them, how would you know? I have served plenty of meat eaters my vegetarian meals and they have often been astonished at how good it was, and surprised that it wasn't meat. You can go ahead and talk out of your ass about how they all suck compared to meat - which is what you are doing since you already admitted that you haven't tried them all. Plus I doubt you have ever had any VegeUSA stuff.

I have had plenty and I can tell you right now that it isn't as good as meat. Some recipes I like cannot be made with meat knock-offs. Now it isn't necessary to use harsh language. I've tried plenty, thank you very much.

Sure you have. I've already seen what you had to say about other-than-meat products in another thread, and you showed that you had no interest in even trying substitutes, so why should I believe you that you have tried "plenty"? - furthermore why would you have tried plent if they suck so bad?. I bet you haven't had anything more than a boca burger. Please though, if you have tried plenty, please name what you have tried.

Sorry I couldn't think of another way of saying "talking out of your ass" - it best describes what you are doing.

I'm not interested in trying substitutes because I just don't think they have flavor. I've tried various including veggies sausages, veggie "fish", veggie hamburgers.. I had plenty more then a boca burger thank you very much. They have plenty of Trader Joes which is not too far away from me. I'm no longer interested in these products, as I'm not a vegan or vegetarian. It doesn't describe what I'm doing. Lets face it, meat has more flavor.

Thats what I thought. I already said you can't get the veggie-'meat' I get at trader joes.

What doesn't describe what you are doing?

I've never seen veggie-fish at trader joes.

Besides I'm not trying to convince you to try anything. I am just doing my usual self defense against people (you this time) who have no idea what they are talking about and always feel the need to put something, they are unfamiliar with, down.

But there are two trader joes near me that are easy in my access. Don't tell me what I can or cannot get. And I was naming things I've tried. That doesn't mean that all of those things I named came from Trader Joes.

You aren't going to convince me. I do have plenty of an idea what I'm talking about. I've tried it myself. I'm just saying my own personal experience. You don't like my tastes? Well that's too bad because many people disagree with you. It is just something you have to live with. Many people don't like calamari, but I do. I'm not going to say they don't know what they are talking about. This has to do with personal tastes.

Pork is probably the worst possible meat out there. If you've ever been in a slaughter house, there's pig liquid all over the floor, that's swimming with visible infestation.

This is why jewish people don't eat pork. It's safer. Same thing with shellfish.

However, modern times have made eating food alot safer. Therefore, I eat pork.

A side note: Historically, in many arid locales, the rearing of swine would have been rather impractical (or otherwise objectionable) due to the comparative inability of said animals to sweat - or, more specifically, the water expenditure inherent in provision and ongoing maintenance of - oft squalid - wallows or pools. Both absence of such facilities and overcrowding typically compel swine to welter about in their own filth, heightening both implicit risk in consumption or handling of what would, even normally, likely be parasite-loaded pork (hence perceived impurity and repugnance of suids and various proscriptions concerning the flesh, untreated skins, bristles, etc., thereof).
