Exam Results

For anyone who may have missed all the UK newspaper ranting about exam results or generally didn't know, the A-level results come out tomorrow. As someone entered in these exams, I feel I should provide a thread to post results/thoughts/worries/advice related to past or present exams.

Personally, I think I messed up about half my summer modules and possibly won't achieve the grades I need for the course I want. Anyone else? You in the back, perhaps?

Yeah i'm looking for German (A) , Chemistry (B) and Biology (B) at A-level but i'm very scared that I wont get the B's in the sciences. I really was lazy this year and now i'm paying for it

Well, I'm looking for AAB (including chem & bio), but I got a sudden urge at the beginning of the year to carry on all four AS levels to A2. This year doing chemistry, physics, biology and economics A2s...it's been difficult. And, to cap it all off, I decided it would be even more fun to do the Advanced Extension award in biology - net result: One extra three-hour paper on biology based upon external reading, which I'm almost certain to have failed, plus all the pressure it put on my already cramped revision style.

I think I shot myself in the foot, tbh.

I did the IB, but most of my friends are now waiting for A levels. It really pisses them off, the way newspapers cover them, because it's so devaluing to be told that whatever they get, they don't deserve. (I'm guessing from that little wad I wouldn't get an A in English, but hopefully under me standing you are.)

Agree with that statement I do, mmm.

*lifts an x-wing out of a swamp with tk* :D

But yeah, it pisses me off no end when newspapers feel the need to print the high brow equivalent of "OMG! Teh n00b examxxorz are teh shizzors, 4 u are teh st00pid and we are teh win! lololololroflmao!!!!111shift+1!" Fuck off, you snooty journalists.

Oooh, lets have a contest about who had the hardest A-Levels!! Or not, it's your call, and I don't want to turn this thread into a dumb flame war.

I did Physics, MAths, Further Maths( ), English Lit, and History. The last two weren't that bad (History had a lot of reading between september and Christmas, and English had quite a bit between Easter and June, but other than that). I need three A's and a B in Further Maths to do Physics at Oxford (not going to happen).

What sucks the most is I'm not going to sleep tonight because of nerves, which will put a downer on my drunken celebrations tomorrow night :(

I don't have the hardest A-levels jackass, I just chose to take on too much this year so I'm going to pay for it. And if you want to avoid flame wars, it's probably best not to post aggravating comments like that.

If you're going to take the piss out of my post, I'd suggest you go down that line of "Oh my God, your so angstful, must be hard being you!" It's easier to pull off.

Word of consolation to them what didn't get the results they expected:

I am the classic example of a competent student that ploughed their A levels.

Years ago I received results of C, E and N and put in a for a remark on one of them, and had it upped two grades, leaving me with C, C and N. I then did another A level at a Further Education college and got an A. A few years later I graduated from university after having studied a subject I would never have considered at age 18, and received a First. I then went on to gain an MA.

Disappointing A level results are not the end of the world.

I got my first ever proper exam result today :) An A in music technology. I took it 2 years early.
9 GCSEs + 1 AS + 1 A2 next year, 4 ASs + 1 A2 year after, 4 A2s year after. I have a fun packed 3 years ahead of me

(AS-Levels) Got B in English and History, a C in Law, better than I was expecting so that's cool, but I got an E in Physics...and I'm dropping Law, not Physics so that sucks

For my AS levels I got A in History and Psychology, and B in Politics and English Literature. I’m pretty pleased with the results, though I do really wish I had got A for politics. The B in English was nice though as one of my teachers, who has been a real bitch most of the yeah had predicted a D or something, and it was good to prove her wrong. ;)

Chemistry:B
Maths:A
That's me in Leeds - w00t!
I just went through the numbers, turned out I was 2 marks off an A in Physics and 7 off an A in Chemistry. :headbang: Those 9 marks would have got me into Oxford.
Ah well, Leeds is just as good for my plans - see you on Mars, dudes!

AS Level Results pour moi!

English (Lit/Lang combined) = A
Religious Studies = A
Theatre Studies = B
Law = D

PS:- stooopid moronic press people saying they're getting easier. Ssssh! Stop being so nasty! :sniper: Yeah, take that, journalists and big nasty people who couldn't sit an A/AS Level if they tried. Don't they realise that for ALL exams, there is so so so much work?
