What is it? I have noticed that alot of people feel very strongly about alot of different issues and I was wondering what you thought was the most pressing in the world. So please include in your post:

1. What the problem is (i.e. world hunger, AIDs, terrorism, golbal warming)
2. Why is it the biggest problem in the world (by biggest problem I mean the most threat to either the human race or civilization)
3. What should be done to counter it

Problem: People are stupid. Why it's a problem: Stupid people do stupid things. What could be done: Let dolphins run the world OR kill all the people.

1. Stupidity.
2. Because aside from nature itself, it is invariably the cause of every other problem facing humanity today, and since the first modern man had two brain cells to rub together for warmth.
3. It's hard to say. It's a pretty big problem. Generally I don't like to forcibly change someone's mind, so I don't prefer to think that any solution that I can think up should be done even if it would "solve" the problem.

Don't allow the stupidest 90% of people breed.

*find out i'm not qualified to breed*

Accually, start a war. All Bush's problems went away when he did. Start a war, stupid people are no longer a problem.

1. A giant meteor crashing into the earth, destroying it utterly.
2. Hey, statistically speaking, it's _going_ to happen, it's just a matter of when.
3. Um... space ships with big lasers?

1. Mankind
2. We're human. We corrupt and destroy things. And have too many children.
3. I don't know because I would be the first to plead for the saving of humanity. I may think we are stupid, but I still would like us to be alive. It's the survival instinct. I can't help it. I love being alive.

Douglas Adams didn't live in vain I see :p

Personally I think the combination of human stupidity, capitalism, representative democracies and organised religions are the biggest problems in the world. I agree with your solution.

1) Barriers to free trade
2) Free trade has the potential to end or at least minimize most of the world’s other major problems including world hunger, war, tyranny and poverty.
3) Governments should get rid of tariffs and adopt a libertarian approach to their respective economies

2. Seems to be behind most of the conflicts. Makes resolving problems hard for those lacking resources.

1) the environment, pollution, and global climate change.

2) we as humans, and every other living thing on the planet are being put at risk due to humanity's catastrophic lack of foresight, and downright greed. Ecosystems that sustain life are being destroyed.

3) ratyfying the Kyoto accord is a start. Outlawing fossil fuels is the solution - that, and grater personal awareness of our ecological "footprint"

After exhaustive analysis of U.S. media sources, I would have to say the biggest problem in the world is either erectile dysfunction or male pattern baldness.

Good one.
But I don't think it's the biggest problem after all. Some manage to ruin their possibilities even if they have a fair share of resources.

I wouldn't say stupidity either. People are stupid. And the brainy ones are often just as selfish as the other guy.

1. Ignorance
2. So many problems could be solved if people had more knowledge
3. Education (wishful thinking)

1. Greed/Lust for Power.
2. The lust for power drives those with power, in crusades for more.
3. No solution can be had.

The world's greatest problem is courage, or lack of it. No one wishes to do what is right. I can never stop thinking about that steakhouse where a lady choked, and everyone, myself included, just watched. She lived, but she could've been saved earlier. Try applying that logic to the big picture.
What can we do about it? My guess is to wait. Humans are great at learning, especially the hard way. We have come a long way since the first humans. We just need courage. All other major problems in the world will be easier then, while still tougher, but grander challenges await us.

I disagree. People are very smartt, and are capable of great things. They just never want to admit it to themselves. Seems silly, but it is natural to do. I do it myself.

1) The desire of the weak (or incompentent, or stupid) to hold back the great. IE the love affair with mediocrity that is ground into children from birth.
2) This leads to frustration and aggression (lashing out against the many) on the part of those who might, instead, guide humanity.
3) People need to be allowed to either rise to the top or fall into oblivion/death based solely on their talents [meaning, the end of government monies going to any private individual with nothing expected in return (NO to welfare, farm subsidies, corporate subsidies, but YES to the practice of buying neccessary crap and paying neccessary government servants) and a reduction in taxation and barriers to people's actions].

The problem is: All people are stupid in ways. Einstein wasn't all there. He often had to have people help him find his way home because his mind was elsewhere. I, myself, have motivational problems, am forgetful, and often lack common sense. I even have a 140 IQ taken by a professional in-person. We have tools. Big whoop. Someone takes everything we know and adds a little to it. We are still the dumbest species out there. We cut down forests, our source of vital oxygen, like they're evil. Humans opress others and even start wars. Heck, if Sadaam didn't invade Kuwait in 1991, Bush Jr. Would have no need to finish what his father didn't. We are the main risk to ourselves. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.
2.Because all of it is Human nature.

The Problem: Humans are still far too instinct-driven as a species.

Why is it a Problem?: Most of our destructive behaviors stem from the fact that we still run strongly on instinct; our shortsightedness, our tendency to rapidly consume resources wherever we go, our neverending conflicts with those we see as 'outsiders' to our chosen group.

The Solution?: It's a tricky thing, becoming 'less natural'. Knowledge, and the will to use our knowledge to improve ourselves, are probably the keys. We need to overcome our fears of the different and the unknown.
