Which natural disasters have YOU PERSONALLY lived through?
Please do not include Hurricanes that hit over a hundred miles away, or tornadoes that hit across town, I'm talking about living through the actual life-or-death nightmare of a natural disaster.
I had the eye of Hurricane Charley go right over my house, taking part of the roof with it.
Absolutely terrifying!
And so glad to be alive a year later to tell about it.
what's your story?

Lightening strikes though I never been hit by lightening
Tornadoes. I lived in Tornado Alley for 3 years so I had to put up with those. My closest experience was a funnel (yes I know not a twister) taking the tops of trees off one street over from where I lived.
Floods, all the time. Even my basement has flooded several times.
Blizzards and Ice storms are the norm up here in the Northeastern Part of the US of A.

You never specified getting hit by lightening but I've been in some dozzy lightning storms that'll make your hair stand on end. If you just wanted those hit by lightning, you should've specified.
I personally lived through the F4 tornado that hit Mason/Montgomery in southern Ohio in April 1999, and lived near Cincinnati, which was flooded in 1997.

I specified that you must have actually been IN the natural disaster, and been in a life or death situation.
So yes, Lightning only counts if you've been HIT by it. I think its safe to say everyone here has had lightning strike NEAR them. That's no big deal. If it were, i would be living through a natural disaster every day in the summer.

Well sitting in a dugout next to a metal fence in a middle of a lightning storm, yea that's pretty dangerous. Not to mention all of those metal bats all lined up next to the fence. Metal attracts lightning. If a bolt hit the fence near where I"m sitting, I probably wouldn't be here right now.
