Are you smart or dumb and why?

The latter. Because I made this post.

Pretty damned stupid for replying, but I think I'm in the middle of the smart/dumb spectrum.

Do people who are "dumb" even know that they are dumb?

free online IQ tests average about 130 for me...that makes me above average...though I have no common sense. I'm a total ditz.

not sure. probably smarter than average, but not especially clever (damnit)
i got into a selective 450 year old private school, got 11 gcse's and 3 decent a-levels that got me into the uni i wanted to study the course i wanted. so thats relatively smart, but not in any sense extraordinarily smart
however while at school there were always people better than me - i was always the absolute average student :(

In terms of math I am the 755th smartest grade 11 in Canada.

Depends who I'm being compared to. I'm 'smarter' than my hairdresser or my cat and dumber/more dumb than say...Condoleeza Rice. Probably.
So I should think I'm in the majority on that really.

I'd like to think I'm smart, but who knows? I rarely get below A's on tests in school usually without much studying (I do know for sure that I have a good memory), but beyond that I couldn't tell you.

If your being good at Algebra makes you smart, I'm a genius. But I'm not so good at other subjects, so I'd say slightly above average probably.

Compared to who and doing what? Computer cats aren't likely to think I'm all that smart-people who know more than one language, even if they are speaking mine poorly, make me feel stupid (I can't speak thiers, poorly or otherwise).

Too vague a question. Cynically I would say if you thought you should respond 'Yes' then you are dumb-but that too is over-simplified and dumb.

smart or dumb are such relative terms these days. I think in comparison with most of the people I come into contact day to day I am pretty smart. But in comparison with some of the people on here maybe a little dumb. My grammar usually sucks and when I go back and read my posts sometimes I wonder what the heck my point really was. My IQ is somewhere around 160 but that is how intellegent that test said I was which might be rigged not sure. Anyway I have to retake my MENSA test so can't be that bright right. oh well, relatively speaking I don't know.

I'm guessing this 160 IQ was on an online test?

IQ tests are deeply flawed, even if they aren't set-up internet fakes. I wouldn't base how intelligent or not I consider myself on one of those results at all.

I'm going for the "smart but chooses not to show off" presentation. OK, I've done some really dumb things. Has anybody seen that Farside cartoon? That's me. Pushing when I should be pulling. Not a genius, not a complete moron. Yep. Has anybody seen my marbles? I lost my marbles.

Well I'm smart enough to know that it's dumb of me to be smart enough to enjoy acting dumb.

Smart in some ways, dumb in others. In the end, I don't think it really matters.

Umm for FFXI....I think I would be the one to actually make you all look like idiots if you played. I have been out of it for over a month do to hardware issues. Though I got my precious videos to buffup on and create plans to be unstoppable.....rambling on again lmao.

in my opinion you are only as smart as you try to be...einstein has done so much for astro-physicis.but no one is truly all knowing.

Cause when I went to beauty school, they made me study chemistry and biology and physiology, as well as in depth studies when it comes to hair, skin, nails, the interaction of all three with a wide variety of products - used separately or in conjuction with each other - and actually a great deal about parasites that can live in all those areas and how to advise your clientele to deal with them. Some psychology and lots of training on visual and audio appearance, how to be safe and comfortable and relaxing and confident without being overbearing or overly personal isn't as easy as it sounds. Neither is being on your feet for your entire work shift making sure other people get exactly what they want even when they don't know what they want.

You do have to pardon me though, ever since I saw 'Grease' in the dinner theatre I've gotten VERY defensive on the side of the hairdressers. There's more to it than anyone outside of the business admits.

Anyway, with a professional psychiatrist IQ testy thingy I'm technically a 'genius' (I'll not tell you exactly but it would put me in mensa if I chose to persue it) but my instincts on decision makings are wrong ALL THE FREAKING TIME, and I've got one of those superfun heriditery biochemistry problems in my brain, so it averages out that I see myself as kind of not very smart, but I learn super fast and perform extra well in the classroom/work environment if I have a direct supervisor telling me how to spend my time.

I function on a pretty good rate, but sleep deprivation and boring lectures in high school on pathetic subjects tends to destroy grades. Even people who can be called mentally retarded could be extremely smart a specific thing like numbers.

Making decisions and stuff is one of a sensitive process, though everyone has their own talents.
