Anyone else keeping record of current events in a journal?

I don't mean just talking about how your day went in a journal. I mean, in a decade, having a journal to go back and read about what you thought as history was being made.

My journal only goes back to Bush's reinaguration.

I do this because this can have a lot of uses in the future. Perhaps my kid will want to know what was life like with President Bush in power. Perhaps one day I'll question how I justified my current beliefs. Maybe one day I'll be reading it under a flashlight in a nuclear bunker and will be able to point out the parts where a nuclear war was conceived.

I keep a diary of everything, from tiny minor pipplesqueak thoughts in my dull little life, through to charting my take on events of international significance (I appreciate 'yes' would have done, but I keep a diary ahahaha and tell bad jokes).

I've thought about it before, but I've never done it. It's something I would like to do, but every time I say I want to, I never end up actually doing it. It's a very good idea.
