Over There

If any of you have watched FX, you have probably seen the show Over There. It is a drama about the War in Iraq that I have a real problem with. If you wish to see it, it is on FX on Wednesdays at ten o'clock. Has the world of television gotten to a point where we start a fucking drama show about everything? I mean seriously, our men are still dieing over there, and they start a drama about it? How dare they.

What affect do you think this show (which I've only seen snippets of) will have on viewers? And what do you think the INTENDED effect is?

I've watched it. It shows how genuinely barbaric American Troops are.

I watched an episode, and I really just wasn't impressed. I guess that's what happens when the only show you watch is 24.

Frankly, I don't know what affect it will have on viewers and I think that the producers at FX just wanted to have something to do a drama on. Politically, they do not try to influence anyone. So far in the show they haven't mentioned anything about Bush or whether they should be there. They only wanted to make money. Making money off of other people's suffering, the producers should be killed.

Well, it's good to know that some people are stupid enough to be influenced by a mere drama show. DRAMA, meaning they dramatized it so it would appeal to the viewers. Frankly, I think it's sick that the producers even thought about doing that show. Then dramatized it so it would appeal to the viewers and make the feeble minded *cough* The South Islands *cough* believe that American troops are all that horrible.

I see what you mean. Producers have absolutely no shame and make a drama about freaking everything.
And the typical drama you see on tv is anything but dramatic too... they're actually quiet annoying. It's generally the same two emotions - anger and sadness - protrayed repeatedly without any reason as to why the viewer should give a damn. Thus why I used to hate TNT, and currently despise it because they're trying to drag Lord of the Rings down to their level.
The LotR story truly was dramatic. It protrayed it's characters and their feelings very effectively with such a huge range of emotions and it just so awe-inspiringly epic and TNT is just raping it by putting it alongside the "lookitme! I can pretend to cry! This is a drama!" crap they always show.
