If you like Fallout, try 'Arcanum' by Troika. Arcanum was too easy towards the end. I didn't like the 'semi-turn based' (in other words real time with a pause option) combat system either. It could have been a good game.. I mean the potential was there, but as I was playing it I got the feeling the whole game had been just thrown together, like it was a real rush job. I didn't think the game was very balanced, and the overall quality of the game was definitely not on par with the Fallout series.

I know what you mean. The rest of the game was good, but the final room was shit. You had 3 possibilities: Kill the necromancer, join the necromancer or convince the necromancer to kill himself. Sounds good? But if you join him it's shit and even if you convince him to kill hinself you still have to fight him. WTF?!?
But I do love the fact that you can kill Myrth before dragging his soul back to our realm to obtain the information you need.

Any Zelda game except wind waker. Ages of Empires is good to.
The Elder Scrolls series. Seriously, if you disagree I'll challenge your sexuality, with a variety of ill-fitting names.
It has a fuckton of background lore, good storylines, and all the games (except Reduard) have kicked the skinny ass of every RPG before and since. And with the impending arrival of TES IV: Oblivion, that record is going to be upheld.

EU2 is better than Victoria. Victoria is okay, but it's too complicated - you're expected to manage individual population groups...it has a very steep learning curve (though it's easier when you realise that letting the computer handle trade is stupid, because it wastes all of your money on useless crap). You can almost jump straight in with EU2, though.

No, you have to really suck ass not to win! The EMP's, the Jedi Starfighters, and the support provided by the LAAT/i is incredible. The Droidekas aren't actually all that good. EMP, EMP, dead.
The only problem with Morrowind is that it's basically a broken game. There are so many ways to exploit it...
For example, stealing the soul gems in the mages guild in Balmora and exploiting that scamp in Caldera, to end up with some $100,000 after two days playtime...and then spending that on training all of your skills.
And then when you're buff enough, going down to Vivec and taunting some Ordinators into attacking you and then selling their armour...and repeating the training process.
And then off hunting old tombs for Daedric armour, and you're unstoppable, even with the difficulty slider maxed.
It's a shame, really...I figured all this out in the first couple of days playtime, which almost ruined it for me. :(
Of course, you can always refrain from exploiting it...but it takes ages to get anywhere otherwise. And it's still fun to squash everything that comes against you. :D
It'll be on the 360 as well as the PC.

Aha, nope. I used a bit of brainpower and sold a bunch of small items in 5k increments...then used them to balance out the transaction back down to 5k when selling the soul gem, then sold them back individually.

South of Balmora and across the river is a mine enter a bit then leave. travel to Vivec, in the St. Olms canton I believe you enter the haunted place. Pick the lock, talk to one of the guys and he'll give you any daedric weapon.
Best Adventure: Monkey Island: LeChuck's Revenge/Curse of Monkey Island/Sam & Max Hit the Road (I just find it so hard to choose one of them that's best).
Best FPS: Undetermined. And I don't care what anyone else might say, after playing it a couple of times, Half-Life 2 just felt old.
Best TPS: Max Payne 2.
Best RTS: Unsure. I used to be good at this genre and really appreciate it but I haven't seen anything good and original for a while (Rise of Nations was ok I guess and Empire Earth II was just, for lack of a better term, Rise of Nations). Best TBS: X-Com 1/2. Hands down. I think that Terror from the Deep is underrated; I see so many people say 'Its just like X-Com with new graphics'. Personally, I feel comparisons of the two are like comparing, say, Thunderbirds (though, say, Captain Scarlet may be a better analogy) and Stingray.Best Survival Horror: Undetermined. Never played Alone in the Dark and have limited Silent Hill experience so I can't really compare the Resident Evil games to something else.
Best RPG: System Shock 2/Planescape: Torment/Baldurs Gate (But I'm still waiting for a high quality RPG that also has turn-based combat.)
Best Sports/Driving/Simulation: Don't know, don't care.

Yeah you can say that, but I oppose the whole idea of game consoles. Whoever thought they would be okay for sale in Europe must have been completley out of his mind :headbang: . Besides, in some nations, game consoles are rearely found on the shelves, not because they're completly unknown, but because everyone there prefers to buy games for the PC.

Golden eye rogue agent is good game on ps2 if you want a challenge. it's a spin of from the james bond series. It's website is eagames.co.uk/bond . Tell me what you think of my choice.

Well, you would, actually...most TV screens can only support relatively low resolutions, so the PC version would probably look better.
You do have a point, but I think the resolution you lost from the tv would be less than the loss of 6 ghz of processing power.

Funny how everybody just mentions legacy games... I've been playing games since the first Prince of Persia came out in 1989, and eventhough the ideas get recycled all the time, some of the newer games are really good...
My personal all-time-favourites, ordered chronologically:
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri
Starcraft (and especially the extension)
Warcraft III (and extension, though I didn't really like the multiplayer part here)
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (although the newest one, Warrior Within, is not that bad either)
World of Warcraft
Yea SE of Vivec. There's the Daedric shrine, head east to the isle with the dwewmer place, straight SE there's an island with a mudcrab
It's actually easier to go to Suran, head east towards the mountains and then along the coast. Head south out towards the water and you'll see the dwemer ruins. On a tiny island east of that, the mudcrab merchant will appear.

I think I remember that lock- I was down there killing the monsters down there and trapping them in soul gems. Isn't it a really high skill level one?
...and stop telling me cheaty secrets! :p
Goto Gnissis, S-SE is one of those square fort things with the propylon chamber. Go in, it has lots of daedric monsters, so have a good weapon. Keep going down into the cave and there's the best light boots in the game, plus with levitation.
Make sure you check behind the bins in the room where you catch corprus, there are the best heavy glove in the game.
In, Tel Fyre, there a room to the left of Dyraith Fyre, pick the 100lock wardrobe for the best light armor in the game.
Do the Temple chain of quests to the end, you'll travel to Mt.Assinabi for the best medium armor in the game.
Go to the cave under Ebonheart, kill the dude for the best heavy armor in the game.
I know it all
PS. The Telvanni house yo get is the coolest, but the Hlaalu is the most convenient.

Prince of Persia was my favourite game. When I saw it in colour I nearly cried.

Ah, I just looked it up. They're PowerPC cores, the same as those used on the Macintosh. While the Ghz rating is nice, what really counts is the numbercrunching ability, and it won't match up to the PC processors of the time.
Have a look at how a 1.8ghz AMD-64 can out-compete a 3ghz Pentium 4, for example.

Victoria has a dauntingly steep learning curve, it's definitely a game that's been designed to appeal to hardcore Paradox veterans. It took me a while to get a hang of Victoria even though I'd been playing EUII for years, but once I did I feel in love with it. Victoria is much deeper, more realistic, and emersive than any other Paradox game. But EUII is of course the classic Paradox game; it's the most enjoyable and stable of the Paradox games and it's the one I always find myself coming back to. Crusader Kings is alot of fun too, even if it's a bug ridden mess; it has a really brilliant, ambitious design.

You are a bad ass stealth ninja sneaking up on EVERYONE and killing them. The only thing that makes stealth worth while is stealth for the purpose of slitting throats

Thief: The Dark Project.....i don't know thats its the best game ever made but its certainly my favorite. Its kinda old (late 90's) but there are tonnes of fan missions still being made and the replay value is good aswell. The Metal Age and Deadly Shadows are good sequels but just aren't quite as good as the original. Just my opinion.
Get the vampire embrace mod, become a vampire and create your own clan. Nothing but becoming a god beats invading Vivec with an army of the undead :D

Oh, I like Victoria. It just took me a long time to get any good at it...(and sometimes it's luck. If you're the first nation to build a machine parts factory, by being fortunate enough to have the right technologies presented to you, watch the money come rolling in...I turned the Netherlands into a virtual superpower.)
HOI2 is more fun, in my opinion...except i've misplaced my CD. :(

No the best is to get a good charm spell. Charm everyone in Vivic, take them to the Arena. Then charm a vampire, bring him/her and watch the show. My brother did that once. It was great.

The rewards you get for House Telvanni are also the best. IE: Ariel's Bow, Daedric armor with a feather enchantment, countless enchanted amulets and rings.

Morrowind, definately, if given aroung 500 hours and three characters, is the best game ever. Else, you can't argue against it. Always finding new quests and funny ass shit in it.

Recently my votes been changed to Kingdom Hearts i just want to know your oppinions. plus i'm looking for some new games to try
geez.... Play more games. That choice is utterly pathetic. Even Zelda: Ocarina of Time has a better game engine, and more comprehensible story. Kingdom hearts is nothing but a game based around cameos.

It's not the best game, but it certainly is a light-hearted fun game. I enjoyed it a lot.
And I just don't like Zelda at all anyway.

haha, Streets of Rage 2! I remember that game like it was yesterday.... such a good game too. I used to play as Skate, purely for the novelty value. I'm sure I have it lying around SOMEWHERE too.
Best TBS: Civilization III and Heroes of Might and Magic IV (HoMM III is too unbalanced)
Best RTS: Warcraft III and Rise of Nations
Best RPG: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II and I (if you're into just hack-and-slash try Diablo II and Neverwinter Nights)
I don't play a lot of FPS but Unreal Tournament 2004 is pretty good.

Yes, but you made a topic saying "BEST video game ever". Then nominated a choice saying "its not the best game". This is why I said play more games. There are plenty of other better "light-hearted fun games" that you probably don't even know about such as Disgaea and etc that are clearly superior.
KOTOR I and II, Diablo I and II and Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun are old school style games gone new.
Best Open ended RGP- The Elder Scrolls III- Morrowind
Best linear RPGs- Neverwinter Knights with all expansions and Star Wars; Knights of the Old Republic
Best free online game-Nationstates
Best MMORPG- World of Warcraft
Best TBSs- Galactic Civilizations followed closely by Civilization III: Conquests
Best RTSs: Starcraft: Broodwars and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
Best FPSs- Halo and Halo 2
Best 3rd person shooter- Mercenaries
Best Action/Adventure games- Zelda: The Windwaker and Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Best City Building Game: Sim City 2 (my first non-educational pc game)
Best Side Scroller: Kirby on the NES
Honorary Mentions: The Sims 2 and Duck Hunt :D

Oh, easily mroe than that. I'd say I've put in at least 5000 hours into it, created over 100 characters, beat the main quest 15 times, Tribunal and bloodmoon at least 5 times each, still haven't completed all the guild quests with one character, still finding cool stuff (see: lusty argonian maid). To me, it's the best RPG ever, and Oblivion is shaping up to be the RPG of our dreams. However, this all could just be over-hyping it. (See Fable :p )

Hmmm...
Best TBS: Good ol' Master of Magic, then Master of Orion 2
Best FPS: Thief series, followed by Half-Life series, then UT (original).
Best RTS: I hate these, but the original Command and Conquer gets my vote, just for the laser obelisks. :)
Best Simulation, 1st person: Freespace 1&2
Best Simulation, 3rd person: Sim City 2000
Best Adventure: Neverwinter Nights + sequels, Morrowind is cool too ( if you have Moogles! (http://machall.com/mog/) :D )
Best MMORPG: Well, Second Life doesn't really count, so... Jumpgate
Best Multiplayer, smack-talk your fellow players while utterly screwing them Game: M.U.L.E. :D (boy, I just dated myself, didn't I...)
Say, why are they called RPG's on computers? There isn't the slightest bit of role-playing involved... aren't they more 'adventure games'?
