Goodbye to a genuinely nice guy, and sympathy to family and friends. :(

You might want to put a bit more info in your post next time. many of us are not from New Zealand and don't keep up with politics there. Story here (http://www.theage.com.au/news/World/Tributes-flow-for-former-NZ-PM-Lange/2005/08/14/1123957931017.html?oneclick=true)
Tributes have flowed from political colleagues and adversaries for former NZ prime minister David Lange, who has died in Auckland aged 63.

Twenty years of strained United States-New Zealand relations, resulting from the Lange government's ban on nuclear ship visits, were forgotten as the US Embassy in Wellington paid its respects to Lange.

Offering its condolences to Lange's family and the people of New Zealand, the embassy said in a statement: "David Lange led New Zealand through a difficult period of profound changes at home and abroad. He did so with courage, optimism, and humour, the same traits he demonstrated in the face of his illness.

My condolences to his family.

I respect him for standing up to USA where most Australian leaders never try that.

My condolences to his family.
Not to deny that you have a point, but I figured if a particular poster were interested, that would be because they did know who he was, and if they did not know who he was, it's probably not of interest that he died...none-the-less, on reflection I think you are probably right if there's a next time I'll supply more info... ;)
