The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam

I saw it at the bookstore the other day, leafed through it. It makes some excellent points, and backs them up with verses from the Koran, or at the very least, from pious Muslim sources. Has anyone else read it? If so, what are your thoughts?

No need to bump it after 12 minutes. It wasn't even halfway down the first page.

The philadeplhia inquirer ran a nice article by an Islamic scholar that basically tore it to shreads.

What an interesting coincidence that I'm reading an interview with Salman Rushide as I glance at this thread....any allusions to him, by any chance?

Is "Politically Incorrect" the new ironically PC way of saying "xenophobic," "racist" and "villifying"?

It's usually the same idea as "I'm not racist, but..." It's an attempt to say something normally considered intolerant and cover it with that phrase.

Was it in the "humor" section of the bookstore? If so, it may be excuseable.

How can we deem something to be excusable or not without knowing what's in it?

People need some way of getting past the PC police. Xenophobic ranting is obviously the best way.

Have you actually read the book? Or did you just try to make a bombastic, and oh so correct, input?
Can someone who has read it tell me if it is utter rubbish or if it indeed has some good points to it?

I recommend people read "The trouble with Islam today" by Irshad Manji... it is very direct about the problems with islam especially in regards with women rights.

Do you know why people say "I'm not racist, but..."? It's because if you're even hinting at critisism against the tenets or implementations of religions you're automatically labeled racist. At least in Sweden. No wonder _real_ racist movements are picking up support...
I know several morons who'd call me racist for claiming I get much more attracted to white women than black because I find the fair (that means light or white, right?) skin more attractive. Luckily no one has yet began calling bounty chocolade lovers racists because they like the white filling more than the chocolade coating

You've got problems with PC going out of control, and the end result is that criticism is silenced. People become frustrated, and the real hate groups capitalize on that anger. However, in the US, there are people who use such statements as a cover for real racism, so it's a different situation.

Finding white women more attractive isn't racist, just different tastes. You aren't saying they are inferior or unworthy because of their appearance, just that you're more attracted to white women. By that logic, everyone who isn't in an interracial marriage is racist.

Yes, that's what bothers me, your post is spot on. Those morons you mentioned exist in Sweden as well ofcourse, as in many other country. It just pisses me off that society as a whole tries to compensate for those morons by overcompensationg the other way so to speak. Like in Sweden...a white swedish guy can't critisise a "new" swedish guy because then he'd be a bloody racist. "Racist" acts like that get in the paper on daily basis but the racism that stems from new swedish citizens against white swedes hardly gets noticed.
I've worked at Mcdonalds where you get to meet ALL kinds of people. Racism swings both ways, that's for damn sure.
