Why...?

Why is it that you people seem to ignore all of the good points I make, but attack the mistakes? When I add a pertinent comment to a debate, no-one so much as mentions it (in most cases), while when I say something containing an error everyone pounces on me. Does it have to do with my antecential postcount (as of writing, I think this is the 100th or something)? Do you only have respect for people who know how to click the "Add Reply" button? I'm tired of being ignored in debates.
Okay, that was my rant for the day. Thank you for listening and if it doesn't apply to you, I don't want to have 3000 posts about "What are you talking about?" or "Who the heck are you anyway?"

We have noticed you and are secretly plotting your destruction. Have you noticed that van that's been parked outside your house for the last two days?
Seriously though, I think most posts are ignored unless they make someone really angry, so don't worry about it - I don't.

Or incredibly happy.
You have to create controversy, it's the spice of life.

I would suggest one of two possible reasons:
a) Your post has been met with indifference.
b) The person is only there to make a point, and therefore anything that does not further that goal is ignored.

IGNORED POSTERS, UNITE!!! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!!
Welcome to NationStates. It's common here, and on other boards like this one, that only the weak points of your argumentation are attacked and the rest, usually the strong, pertinent stuff, is ignored. It's not just you - it happens to everyone (just look at The Cat-Tribe's "Abortion Syndrome" thread). It's called "Internet debating". No wonder it's referred to as retarded.
So, why does one keep going at it? I really don't know. :p

Happens to me a lot too. People only talk to me when I cyber-hump their leg.....

it used to really bug me.
after a while you come to realize that the only people who post after you make that one great killer post are the ones who are enamored of their own "one great point" (and those dedicated to convincing that guy that his point isnt all that great)
and those who have hijacked the thread over to something else entirely.
and those who read the first post and ignored everything else to make the same tired points that you refuted. they never even read your post, it was too far in for their limited attention span.
after your 5000th post or so people will begin to acknowlege that you exist.
kinda
I know... I hat the spelling thing. But usually people hitch onto it because they have nothing better to argue. So if they do, technically youve won. Stupid petty people will always do it. People ignore all the time, but I sometimes put something so controversial that they can't. Maybe there should be a League of Ignored Posters...
All of my posts are awesomely brilliant and erotically sublime. Yet the great majority of them are completely ignored. I fear this one will be too. Pearls before swine.

It's called missing the point; specifically, a straw man argument (see the link in my signature). It has nothing to do with you or your post count. It's just that this forum is composed primarily of teenagers and young college students undisciplined or unskilled in debate (or both). It's a lot easier to pick one point that can be replied to with clear, concise rhetoric gleaned from one of John Kerry's or George Bush's stump speeches then it is to take on a person's entire argument.
Try not to get agitated by it. Keep up the quality of your arguments and they'll learn by example.

Only immature humans and the humans that work for the Democratic and Republican parties doing interviews for the media during election years.

Do we really want a forum made of people agreeing with each other? I don't know about you, but I would get pretty bored of this place if the majority of posts were of the nature of 'yes.'/'good point'/'me too'/'AOL'.

Keep in mind that the forums (like martial arts) is organized uselessness. Your good points is invariably their bad points, so most will fail to acknowledge it.
Welcome to the forums! :D

You know, I appear to have a very strange problem similar to this. I am a teenager/young college student (I started taking college classes at 14) and yet my points in debates aren't ignored. Although, that could be because I'm not cautious to avoid offending between four and eleven groups of people. I've debated both with and against Nova in the past, and he always seemed a good deal more cautious than me in his arguments. Maybe that's the reason.

first of all welcome to the club (we have t-shirts)
secondly lots of threads are ignored often its only the ones that make some people angry (so the left wing and right wing) or the funny ones
so if you are a moderate then you might be ignored

The solution is very simple. Simply respond to social issues in a flat out honest and sensible terms and not in "correct or thoughtful" ways of indoctrination. You will have minions of leftist spawn giving you their undivided attention till kingdom come. :D

Bah, nevermind when they attack your mistakes, that's how we learn. The really irritating thing is when they attack you for things you didn't even say. They misread the simplest and most easily understood statement and then the voices in their heads fill in a bunch of gaps and twist your statement into its antithesis.
