Have you ever thought about Winnie the Pooh?

This might sound like a cheap topic, but it is serious to some degree. My sister just finished watching the Kill Bill movies and said she'd rather watch hours of Winnie the Pooh. Whereupon I got to find out why (whether I wanted to or not):
A.A.Milne's social Critique:

Pooh: The Junkie
I mean, he's fat. So fat in fact, that he rips open when he bends over... and he does the craziest things to get honey (I mean pretending to be a RAINCLOUD? What is he ON? (besides "hunny"?))
Tigger: The Hyperactive
Tigger must be ADHD or something. And not only that, he thinks everyone is his friend, when in fact this isn't the case (some bunch of friends that didn't stop Rabbit from making sure he didn't bounce).
Kanga and Roo: The Single Mother
Kanga and Roo are the model of the new family. Where's the father anyway? Roo certainly wastes no time in picking a father figure (and who might that be? Oh, the hyperactive predator, why am I not surprised)
Piglet: The Confused
What gender is Piglet anyway? Piglet is confused and timid when it comes to anything. Thus, Piglet characterizes the new generation that is seeking a definition for itself. Piglet is unsure, but somehow, loved by anyone.

Has anyone else noticed this? (I didn't... my sister just forced the knowledge on me)

I prefer the Pinky & The Brain episode where they poke fun at it. Brainnie the Pooh and Al Gore the Donkey! Great stuff. :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, instead of Christopher Robin its Christopher Walken!

I'd rather watch hours of paint drying than the kill bill movies, but what's your opinion of Eeyore (I think that's his name) the pessimistic and depressed donkey?

I sincerely doubt that you expressed the intent of a children’s book written decades ago.

He only complains and lives in a shack. He probably has leprosy... :D

Might sound a lil' crazy, but Eeyore is a girl.... Notice the bow on the tail. If you ever actually watch episode after episode of it... you'll notice that more than once they'll refer to her as "old girl." She only sounds like a dude and talks monotone because she's always depressed and pessimistic. You're probably not wondering why I know this, but i'll tell you anyways. There's nothing like getting stoned and watching children's cartoons.

Have a nice day.

Who is Christopher Robin in this social farce, then?

The benevolent dictator? Some sort of communal Ueber-Ich?

Your "social critiques" are all dead on. Good job!!

Side note: When I was small, I used to be disgusted by Pooh, because he never wore any pants. XD

What about Rabbit: OCD
He is ridiculously controlling of how neat and tiy things are and repeatedly checks over his garden every day as well as his house. When things are out of order, he freaks the hell out.

So the Finnish would only accepts a duck in PANTS??? Sheesh... there's no end to the weirdness of the world

Just out of curiosity, what kind of "political system" would the 100 acre wood be?
It seems pretty communist, the way Eeyore just gives Piglet's house to Owl...

The Donald duck thing is an urband myth: http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/finland.htm

It still makes me smile every time someone mentions it, though.

Anally rententive... which kind of brings up the next question : Is Tigger gay?I think my sister called Rabbit the Closet Nice Guy, because, while he is an asshole to everyone and a social outcast, in the end, he's not so bad.
Tigger gay? I think it's too early to tell. He's quite immature. He'd probably run away from females shouting "Cooties!" :p

Quite possibly. And yet, he just always reminds me of Jack from "Will and Grace". That can't be a coincident?

It is a wonderful description of the type of people one encounters in society...and it explains it to children in ways they can comprehend...through fictional scenarios involving talking animals.....it reminds me of how Dr. Seuss explained racism and descrimination (the sneeches) and environmental issues (the lorax) to young ones

One time i watched a 12 hour marathon of Winnie the Pooh while stoned on marijuana. that was, quite an experience. Lets just say, im pretty sure that theres some nice behind the scenes action in the studio.
