I made a joke about the NZ cricket team being crap today at work, then found out that my boss is a cricket passionate Kiwi. :headbang:

Nice work....

But if we can get them out for a pretty low score, baring a great fight back (touch wood) then we might be able to actually lead the series!!!! :D

With any luck at all, we can dispatch the rest of this order (5 left form this post) quick enough, especially if the Umpires give us the extra overs tonight to make up for rain, we can make them follow on in the morning and have our second innings last, which I prefer when I play.

Michael Clarke is going to bat (with his dodgy back).
We'll need him the way things are going.

Gilchrist got dropped twice in the same over.

Yeah, I think they should leave Clarke out till the next match, he'l just do more damage to himself by playing today...Actually, bring him on! Just bounce him and make him stretch down to low balls, do that back in good and proper. ;)

M.C is obviously not in good shape as he has a runner working with him. This should be a short innings IMHO.

Close of play Aus 210-7.

What was it the Aussies were saying? "5-0, easy"? ;)

Question for the night...

Will England force the Con- I mean Australians to follow on, or will they manage to get passed that target...
If they do get past it, what will their total be before they are all out?

I'm hoping for a follow on, and them still not getting enough in the second innings so England don't have to bat again :D

Yeah, they'll avoid the follow on. I think they might get within 150, but hopefully not 100.

I think they'll be jammy and just scrape past the follow on by a few runs. I've got a nasty feeling rain will come into it too, but hopefully there'll still be enough time left for us to finish em off.

It's been raining all morning...This sucks. We need to get them out for under 200 today if they avoid the follow on, which I think is a reasonable target? < 90 runs of 3 tail enders including Warne who will throw his wicket away with any luck. Mcgrath might be troublesome, he can play some good sweep shots, and Harmison and the rest are bowling a lot fo bouncers. Who knows.

Need to get out there and play some cricket!

The players, and myself for that matter, are taking an early lunch as the rain continues to fall at Old Trafford, it would be nice to see some play this afternoon, but don't hold your breath.

11am - There's no need for an inspection now as the rain has returned, prospects for play before lunch look bleak but the forecast is due to get better in the afternoon, much like my hangover.

The news is that there will be an inspection at 11am by the umpires, we wait with fingers crossed.

10.25am - I'm afraid I have to be the bearer of bad news that the rain has hit Old Trafford and play will not be starting on time, in fact the covers are still on the field and there's no indication of when we'll see some action, the good news is it's only light drizzle.

Also, just a little note form the Stat Man...

Shane Warne (who is #7 in the batting line-up) has faced more balls in the Australian first Innings than any other Australian, except for M. Hayden (who is #2 in the line up) who faced 71. warne is currently on 61.
He has also scored significantly more than any other batsman, 10 more than Hayden and 15 more than Gilchrist. The three true middle order batsmen Ponting, Martyn and Katich only scored 44 runs if their scores are put together.

Give Warne a mobile, cigarette and a blonde chick ... that's all the motivation he needs. :D

I'll probably have hundreds of empty beer cans thrown at me for saying this, but I hope the Poms do win the ashes ;).

I mean after all, Australia has held them since 1989, our players have had their turn holding the trophy and humiliating the English at ashes tour after ashes tour, so its about time you lot rediscovered how to play cricket and managed to get a decent team together :D:D.

Still no play...I don't want the follow on any more. I want us to get in and have a bat now the pitch is soaked through. I know Warney is good, but even he couldn't turn a tap with the ammount of water thats fallen. Which means Gillespie gets more overs, and he was basically feeding us runs the other day...

Picture time!

Aussies, He is coming! The great one is on his way!

(I think you mean Gillespie.)

Anyway, they would never enforce the follow-on now, even if they got the chance - which is unlikely.

If the weather makes this match a draw I'm going to scream, England deserve to get this one played through after 2 great innings so far. Well, close enough to 2 innings anyway.

Well the covers have finnaly come off, so I'm expecting some play from Old Traford soon!
