i was reading the new vanity fair magazine yesterday. (poor jennifer anniston has been SOO done-wrong by brad pitt) and i see they are having an essay contest called "What is on the minds of America's youth today?"
its such a broad topic and really americas youth is not exactly single minded. some only think about the next cd they are going to buy, some are running charities to help aids orphans in africa.
how would YOU answer that question?

but could you come up with an answer if the essay could win you $15,000?
its only open to americans OVER 18 so no YOUTHS can enter. some 90 year old's "kid today have it so easy" essay could win the day. but what REAL could be written that would be both truthful and compelling? something that really says something about "youths" without being falsely inspirational.
Being an American teenager...I usually think about whatever is going on at the moment, which includes:
-food
-sleep
-TV
-current events
-the opposite sex
This is the average. Nothing complex, but nothing too...mundane.

I believe we need some straight females to even this out
I'd say 20, but that's just me... :D
Yeah, you might be right, but being in the twilight years of my life at 33 the matter is somewhat academic to me. Still, I was going to punk and hardcore gigs before those whippersnappers have born and still haven't lost the habit.
One of the great joys in being no longer a teenager is when the young pups start talking about their favourite band, and you're able to say with all honesty 'Yeah, their first gig was pretty good as far as I remember it, but they started to suck when they recorded their second demo'...
