I mean, geez guys, can't you even try to be subtle anymore?

When were they ever subtle?
And I predict a "Democrats are worse" reply in 5, 4, 3, 2, .....

Just kidding, but I'm sure the allegations will start flying if this thread stays on the front page long enough for the Reps to get annoyed enough to respond.

Meh, voter suppression is even worse for 3rd-parties. In some states the LP isn't even on the ballot!

Oh and it is sick how far people will go to cheat their way into political power. No matter who does it, they should get thrown in jail for no less than 10 years.

Wasn't there an independent comittee set up that looked over all accusations of vote tampering and found that the Dems did more? Also, I would think that paying someone with crack to register false voters and slashing tires is more blatant than jamming phone lines.

You were right!
It almost looks like a "They did it so it makes it okay for us."
I wonder if the DNC is putting up the money to defend the people who gave out crack.

If it's the report I'm thinking of--and if you post it, I'll let you know for certain--then no, it wasn't an independent report. It was a report put together by a right wing group.
And this shouldn't be a "who's doing it worse" situation--vote tampering is bullshit no matter who does it and if someone gets caught--like the people in the New Hampshire case--then they ought to get tossed in jail for some seriously long time. Fucking with the vote borders on treason in my book.
*is sad*
This doesn't surprise me...If it were Democrat or Republican...

True. but the most conspicuous violator, here and now, is the party in power.

Because they don't register. Believe it or not, the states have to actually be informed if you're running, because they ain't mind readers.

That's a bit of an oversimplification. Some states--Georgia is particularly bad--have almost impossible hurdles to climb to get on the ballot if you're not one of the big two. New York is pretty tough as well, I believe. California has one of the easiest ballot access programs.

and they had such a good chance this year!

 I thought they were on the ballot in 48 states +DC??
Michael Badnarik - 396,859 votes... that's 0.32% of all votes cast! Woo hoo!

Hey, I'll do my part. I love annoying anti-democratic types. Especially if I can so move them as to elicit a heartfelt pronouncement confirming their tendencies towards the despotic.

Oh man, you got that right. When I first started writing a column I came across a now infamous loophole that would have allowed me to run for governer against then Pete Wilson on the "I'm not Pete" platform. It would have been, as we all now know, ridiculously easy. At the time it would have been cool-how many people do you know who've run for Governor of California? Now-who hasn't run...
Ah, if only I wasn't a little lazy and easily destracted...

Just look at the list of names from the Arnold coron... I mean election. That's how easy it is to get on California's ballot.

VERY easy. And yet, I still didn't do it. In retrospect I should have printed a column on how to do it and encourage everyone to. That would have been cool, and I would have been ahead of my time...
EDIT: We should have just left Emperor Norton in charge ;)

There's a restaurant near my house called "Emperor Norton's"
They have some interesting news articles on the wall about him.
