Well, considering the bang-up job we're doing securing Iraq right now--we can't even keep the Mayor of Baghdad from being ousted by a local militia--Chavez may well be right.

Of course, I'm sure you could strap on your Rambo gear and take out Hugo all on your own if it weren't for us dastardly liberals sapping your manly energy all the time.

Oh yes, General Noriega said the same thing. Where is Noriega right now?

Castro? The chap that, according to ten different US Presidents over the past 46 years, is going to fall 'any day now'? I don't think its Castro that's been coming out with the counterfactual statements.

You mean the drugsdaler that was a republican friend until no more needed? :upyours:

In jail, where he belongs, but then again, we didn't invade and subsequently occupy Panama either. The Iraq example is a bit more apropos, and I say again--we're not doing a particularly good job of securing that country right now, so what makes anyone think that we could 1) open a war on a third front (lest we forget Afghanistan) and 2) take and secure a country with a populace who would certainly be opposed to our presence with our military in its current state?

Unless, of course, we leave it up to Stinky Head Cheese and his mighty Rambo suit.

He's right. There's no way our army could currently invade a country the size of Venezuela without having a draft. If our military, spread as thin as it is, tried to invade Venezuela, we would lose.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but to add to that it isn't really made of the kind of territory that you Americans have got used to fighting in the past couple of years, is it? - to simplify my point here - the US armed forces seem to have more problems when it comes to invading countries with large amount of trees than those countries with fewer trees.

The invasion part of it is rarely the problem--it's the post-invasion security part that we seem to have problems with, especially under this President.

The US army hasn't shown much difficulty in invading countries, trees or no. The US army has shown a rather complete inability to hold a country once invaded, and the amount of trees seems proportional to the difficulty.

Seems someone's taken the liberals' accusations of oil-plundering too seriously.
