I couldn't really say, except to say which places I've been to do not qualify. Idaho doesn't qualify because while people will generally be very nice to you, half only do so out of the expectation that you will convert to Mormonism. If you make clear that you aren't going to convert, half will still be really nice to you, and the other half will be complete jackasses.

Nevada doesn't qualify because its the closest man has ever come to Ayn Rand's vision of utopia, and consequently is a hellhole if you aren't someone with the last name of Wynn or Goodman or incorporated.

I haven't been around other places enough to say that they are or aren't really nice places to live.

But Northern Nevadans can be pretty good and nice folk, a little strange, but you have to be to live in Northen Nevada in the first place.

You know, my Malaysian family has pretty much banned me from marrying anyone Japanese because 'they don't treat their women right.' Or anyone Indian for that matter. Or Muslims. Pretty much anyone who's not Malaysian-Chinese, all for the same reason too.

I have a pretty racist family come to think of it.

The Japanese are quite nice though, but my knowledge of Japanese people is really little, pretty much just my stepfamily. But they were sweet.

This is a tough one because almost all of the places I have been the people are very friendly. If I were to have to choose though, I'd have to say Panama and Cosa Rica stand out as the most friendly with Israel running right along side them.
In the US and Canada there are just too many places to count with some great people, however I was most pleasantly surprised by my treatment from more people in Baltimore MD and Pasadena TX than any of the others.

I actually have travelled a good bit of the world as a result of a former job.

I've been in Europe, Africa, Asia (east and west) and of course, North America.

I like the post earlier about them being spread thin and hard to find in large flocks.

Human beings are human beings whatever society they form. If one guy has a dollar (Euro, Dracma, Sheckel, Yen, etc) somebody else is going to want it. If someone does something nice for someone else, there's going to be at least one person standing by that doesn't understand why and that will then mock that person or try to take advantage of him/her.

The best thing is to make sure you're one of the nice ones an let the others kill each other over time.

Cajun is short for Acadian. Acadians are old-school French Canadians.

On the other hand, being Canadian, I won't stand for this "Canadians are nice" crap. It's not that we're nice, it's that we're polite and genial to your face. Pure interpersonal politics. Whatever's said behind your back, or jammed into your back, is fair game. I may just be speaking for myself.

If I got on a bus with my two daughters a couple of older ladies would always hold them and make sure I got them back when it was my stop. Any attempt to speak Korean (no matter how badly I mangled it) was met with encouraging smiles - people greeted us on the street and tried to feed us watermelon, kimchi and other treats. I nominate the people of Denmark. I was on holiday in Florida about 10 years ago and I *still* remember that time like it was yesterday because of the *wonderful* people I met at my hotel from that great country. That, and Rebilt National Park is the only place in the world outside sovereign U.S. territory that *celebrates* the American Independence Day (4 July).

Some of the nicest people I've met are Germans, well German tourists in Spain at least... they'll help you out if you have a problem and will invite you for dinner afterwards, while all English tourists I´ve met will just ignore you, and that's only when they're behaving at their friendliest... :p

Actually, of all the Germans I've met in Spain, only one was a real jerk. He had named his vacation house `Casa ICH´ and had put a giant German flag on the roof, and he´d come out and scream at you if you walked your dog even 5 metres away from his property... needless to say, the sidewalk in front of his front garden became my dog´s favourite "sanitary" location... :D

It can't be divided into countries. I know this from experience. People from Northern California tend to be selfish *****s, and general *******s. However, I noticed that people from Southern California tend to be nicer.

All the Canadians I've met have been nice :) The Enlish are nice enough, as well. Most of the jerks I've come across online have been from America

I Live in Minnesota, and People are passive agressive rather than actually nice. I've been around and the australians by far are the most friendly(sometimes cloyingly) people in the world.

Not to mention that they along with Latvians are known for their homophobia...

Polish, too?!

I'm Latvian, and Fass's statement about Latvians is entirely true. Very widely known phenomen.

But (living near them) Polish certainly are not the nicest nationality. Very far from that.

My vote would go for Americans, because they are so naive

[after Milhouse moves out of town, Skinner and Willie are shocked to learn that Bart and Lisa have become best friends]
Groundskeeper Willie: It won't last. Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like Englishmen and Scots! Or Welshmen and Scots! Or Japanese and Scots! Or Scots and other Scots! Damn Scots! They ruined Scotland!
Principal Skinner: You Scots sure are a contentious people.
Groundskeeper Willie: You just made an enemy for life!
