If she's hot, I'll allow her to be my chick on the side.

ROFL.

Anyway, unless the cook is from the south, that's probably a bad menu. Otherwise, if the cook IS from the south (preferably somewhere like TX, AR, MS, AL, GA, or SC), then the menu is excellent.

I'm always really suspicious of non-southerners who claim they can barbeque.

lol, please, she'd tear you up in a second at the very notion of that. Then I'd severly cripple you as you lie on the ground dying from blood loss and bone penetrations into your vital organs. :D

You're right, you do have that going for you, but I'd still be suspicious. When you pick up a rib bone, the meat should still be on your plate.

haha, yes we are quite capable of cooking meat that doesn't fall off the bone. From my observations, people normally have extremely bad taste when it comes to bbq. There's this restaurant down here that EVERYBODY and their mother raves about but everything is burnt to a crisp.

No...BBQ rib meat shouldn't stay on the bone. They also take basically all day long to cook.

You're quite clearly not southern.

I don't know if you want to be or not, but it's not really an option. Southerners know how to cook and enjoy good barbeque. If BBQ isn't really your bag, then oh well...

Why is everything from the south pork based anyways? No matter what you eat, you could ask someone "what kind of fish is this?" and they'd say "porkfish".

Dates back very far...

Basically, pigs are easy and cheap to raise throughout most of the south. And BBQ was a good way to turn one pig into a massive meal (you pretty much eat everything)...so cheap farm folk can still get good eats.

You notice that Texas BBQ has a lot more beef, and that's because cattle are just as easy to raise there as pigs, but throughout the rest of the south, it's pretty much pigs that are the easiest and cheapest to raise...

Today, you could get pretty much anything, but tradition and recipes are all pork based...and people just cook the things their parents showed them how to cook well..

Well that does make sense, never exactly thought about it in exactly the same context.

There was a thing on the History channel the other day about American food. Part of the show was about BBQ and the south.

They also discussed Chef Boyardee and Hershey's.

The best part about BBQing...

In Fayetteville, Arkansas (Univ of Arkansas Razorbacks), if you are going to tailgate, if you get to the football game early enough to get a good parking spot (generally about 7-8 hours before kickoff), that leaves you with the perfect amount of time to cook some nice BBQ and have just enough time to eat it before you head to the stadium.

I could never do that because when I eat large portions of food before events I get terribly sleepy and I wouldn't be able to watch the game.

You don't sleep at a Razorback home game.

Actually, you don't sleep at SEC football stadiums. Unless it's at Miss St[ake], Vanderbilt, or Kentucky.

Last season was fun for Razorback fans even with a 5-6 finish. Just about the only game that wasn't any fun was the season finale in Little Rock against LSU...that was pathetic.

But if you're not in the SEC, or if you're one of those 3 teams I mentioned, I can understand how college football season wouldn't be that exciting.

I can't really get into college football anyway. I find the NFL alot more interesting.

No. Although, the Janet Jackson thing is kind of rediculous...

I really don't care how many games a team wins, but I do have a hard time feeling any sort of allegiance or real connection with any NFL team, versus the college that I attend...etc., so I don't follow it too closely.

But what I don't like about the NFL essentially is the idea of the professional athlete. It's weird, I know, but College Athletics just seems more true to the game, more about the game and less about the money (at least on the surface, but we all know it's the money that prevents a play off system for the post season). I mean, you don't see massive amounts of players switching teams for a better pay or because they lost a piss fight with someone on the team. It's rare to see transfers, and when you do, it's usually because a player isn't getting the playing time he feels that he deserves...and at the same time, with college football, a player will have 4 years tops of on the field experience, so by the time a player gets really good at his position, he's replaced by someone with less experience because he left to graduate or whatever. The lack of experience makes for errors, but that is what makes the game exciting at that level.
