what is the problem here? canadians are upset because they are decried as boring, unassuming, or unimportant? i would far prefer that to being equated with the government and steroetypes of the united states. i am afraid to travel, and, if i do, afraid to announce my country of origin. not for fear of physical harm, but because it is easy (and mostly accurate) to think of "americans" as fat, stupid, ignorant chumps who work too much to prop up the bastards who oppress most of the world. i don't want to be branded by the landmass where i was born.

incidentally, the issue that people seem to be taking with spelling ([color] vs [colour], etc) is pretty ridicuous. i know that it is being done for humo(u?)r's sake, but, as a professional linguist, i must take exception. orthography is not an indication of intelligence. furthermore, the american spellings of the words in question has been socially realiz(would you prefer s?)ed as a correct spelling. if anything, it is an indication of the effectiveness of our system of indoctrination (*shudder*).

We can do whatever we bloody well feel like, and if they don't like it, well then tough luck.

In any case, my conclusion is that "Anti-Canadians" lack logic and fact, and as such, are fools, and Canada owns. That is all.
