i guess other people here like getting tasty tasty lunches at Subway... a new one opened up close to here and i go there probably twice a week for lunch now. so, what kinda sandwich do you have?

currently i'm loving the Italian BMT (salami, ham and another type of salami) with cheese, leuttice, cucumber and honey mustard... mmmmm mmm :P

what about you?

I've never eaten at Subways, and I never will. I don't like the smell of trains. Plus I'm perfectly capable of making my own sandwiches. Mine have ingredients in them that you don't generally find in shops...

The B, D, and Q lines are the ones I've lived nearest, and traveled a lot on the N and R.

;) Oh, that's not what you meant, is it?

I like their six inch chicken teriyaki on a honey oat roll, with honey mustard, lettuce, tomato, black olives, onion, pickles, and banana pepper rings (the ones that are the same color as pickles, NOT the jalapeno peppers!)

Penn Station is much better. Their Reuben sub beats any sub on the planet. Well, in general, a Reuben beats any sandwich anywhere, so I'm a bit biased.

Lessee. The Sweet Onion Chicken Terriyaki on wheat, with american cheese, green peppers, banana peppers, lettuce and tomatoes. Awesome.

However, we've a local sub shop called Hoody's (The owner is the same guy who created Thundercloud Subs in Austin, if you've ever been), which is bloody awesome. Whenever I'm in Round Rock, I ALWAYS stop to pick up a meatball sub (plenty of sauce), with hot peppers, oregano, mozerella, parmesean on white bread.

My other favourite sub is the Chicken Carbonara from Quizno's. My gods. I'd kill for that thing.

I like the meatball. I guess it is because I like italian food(anything with marinara or another tomato sauce like beefaroni for example counts as italian) and hate all leafy greens(leafy and green things are evil).

@ Katganistan: The N, Q, R, W was the nearest line when I lived downtown, but now I primarily use the A, B, C, D, which stop right near where I live.

To answer Pure Metal's question now: I'm kind of indifferent to Subway; their sandwiches are kind of OK, but I can make better ones using just materials from the local supermarket.

I've eaten at Subways in at least twenty states by now. I also happen to live about five miles from store #1, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

BTW: Their corporate HQ is in Milford, CT. The cafeteria is... a Subway! That's where most of the new sandwich ideas come from. Employees make their own (free) sandwiches, and things progress from there. :)

Dunno what its like elsewhere, but for a Sub 'meal deal' in Glasgow its well over £5. Now they're damned tasty, but that's ridiculous money for a glorified sandwich. And in the UK, they always seem to have those ridiculous touts standing outside with clipboards, trying to lure you in. Like I'm not capable of deciding what to have for lunch on my own, thank you very much.

smart idea... mcdonald's had something vaguely similar (at least here in the uk) in that employees could come up with a new burger idea, if the floor manager liked it they'd allow you to make it for free and if McD's adopted the new sandwich they give you.... a hundred pounds! woohoo

Yep, though I went to the one in the mall underneath, not in the Pentagon proper. I was only there once, to go take an exam at Sylvan Prometric in the 90s.

There are also *5* in Bahrain, and one in... Luxembourg! :)

My personal way to get the best sandwich possible (and a unique experince) is to go in and say to the person "make me whatever" or "make me your favorite". They will give you odd looks, and then ask you what kind of bread. Say "whatever". Repeat the question-whatever process several times, and enjoy. They've been working there a while, and eating way to much of it, they generally know what is good.

One of my personal favs...
Meatball on Asagio bread with provolone, tomotoe, olive, mushroom, parmesan, and bell peppers.

Well, Subway is sadly the only reliable sandwich shop here in Japan. Outside Subway, one is lucky to find anything besides a "mixed sandwich set" of a 1/2 ham sandwich, a 1/2 tuna salad sandwich, and a 1/2 egg salad sandwich; all served of the Japanese equivilant of crustless Wonderbread. :(:(:( (And I pretty much hate tuna salad and egg salad - chicken or ham salad are fine.)

But a decent debris po' boy or a good Chicago Italian beef are far, far, far away.

Truth is, I usually order the BMT with lots of jalapenos and Italian dressing (and get it toasted), or if I am saving my cash, the Cold Cut Trio because it's cheaper. I might just have to do a Meatball sometime...put some mozzarella on Italian bread, toast it, and get some kind of chips. Salt and Vinegar, probably.

All this talk about Subway is making me hungry...and i don't leave work for another hour and i don't get paid until tomorrow, so that sucks.
