Thanks Gartref. Here's a link (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8864210/). I'll miss the guy--he was a hell of an anchor.

What the hell? Google shows nothing about him dying. If he did, it'd be all over the place. I'm thinkin' you're misinformed.
Edit: Whoa. I'm shocked that Google didn't show up anything. Damn, I actually liked that guy and I'm generally not impressed with news anchors.

Too quick for google, I'd guess, unless it's google news.

Yeah, he'd been undergoing treatment for lung cancer since April. I remember the night he announced it on the air.

Wow, you people beat me to it! The world will not be the same without Peter. He guided many Americans, including myself, through tough times and I will miss him dearly. Peter Jennings was the name, face and voice of ABC News and he was the name, face and voice of truth.

I think he was an okay anchor. But nonetheless, my sympathies go out to his family.
I was watching ABC when they announced it..

He died. I got it from Wikipedia and CNN.

Although I didnt always agree with Mr. Jennings, I cannot deny an infinite amount of respect for the man.
Many of us grew up watching him every night giving us the news.
My condolences go out to his family.

Peter Jennings was a household name in the USA. It's good that his fellow media personalities can sing his praises and tell everyone of his passing..
But did they really need to interrupt with a LIVE special report just to show stock footage of his career that they've had prepared for weeks ? and it wasn't even an ABC station!

He was my favourite news anchor and definately led America through some times that were difficult.

It's truly shocking, and emotionally tough to accept. All my life, it's been Jennings, Brokaw, and Rather. Now I've got Brian Williams and a bunch of pundits who all do the same thing.
Peter Jennings was a reporter to the highest level; gaining access to things others could only dream about. All the while delivering his news with a certain elegance and intelligence, that is needed and will be sorely missed.
Who here knew that he dropped out of high school as a sophmore? And he never went back(although he wished he had). The man was genius......
Plus... he always had his Canadian Passport with him whenever he was abroad... It got him out of many sticky situations.

No wonder he's dead, he didn't finish high school! Did he honestly think he could escape death?

A class act, the best of the "big 3" anchors. Personable, professional, tireless and succinct. I recall him being almost perpetually on the air for FOUR DAYS during 9/11. The man was simply better than anyone else.
Vale, Mr. Jennings. You are sorely missed.
