Pain in work accidents

Just wondering whats the most amount of pain you guys have suffered in a work related accident?
Ive gone through a fair bit on the building sites I've been on, including loosing fingernails, and even nearly killed.
I was taking some cement to another floor, when some steel scaffolding slipped out of an incorrectly tied harrness, it dropped about five metres on to the slab I was on, where it hit a 3 kg steel screwjack about 5 metres from me, causing it to fly up through the air and hit me in the face and knock me flying, there was blood everywhere on me. I just couldnt believe how much blood came out of my face.
The site doctor said if it had hit me half a cm to the right on my temple, I would probably have died.
I guess someone up there loves me.

I once accidently put a staple in my own thumb while putting some papers together for a meeting. Hurt like a sumbitch until I pulled it out. ;)

I once stabled my thumb to a desk, and cut the top of my fore finger nearly off with some industrial sized scissors.

My accidents are nothing as bad or as serious as all of the previous ones mentioned here but I've been: Stung by a sting ray, bitten by an opossum (several times), and scratched by different species of turtles.

Well, something like that. I work at the Fort Lauderdale Museum Of Discovery and Science in the Animal department, and I'm a level 5 animal handler. I have to feed them, administer their medication, and maintain the cleanliness of their habitats (don't get me started on the bat habitat).

I worked for many years as a logger. Lots of injuries, broken bones, cuts, punctures, bruises, concussions, sprains, torn muscles, even a few eye injuries. Just always hurting from something.

Most painful was a back injury that cost me a year and a half out of work. And a knee injury when a log was dragged over me, cost me six months. I've seen a lot worse in others than what I suffered.

Nothing anywhere near the aforementioned. I teach ESL, including kids, and have been hit a few times in the testicals by little fists, elbows, and toys (mostly accidentally - I learned really fast to be aware of 4 year olds whose elbows are at crotch level).

Lesser injuries can hurt a lot too. Pain tolerance seems to vary a lot between individuals as well. I've seen repectable men go into shock with wounds that didn't look that bad to me, but there was no mistaking their body's sincerity.

I know what bats are like, I parked my car under a tree full of them once, when I got back six hours later....I almost couldnt see my car.

I once (accidentally) stabbed myself in the leg with a big-arse pair of leather cutting scissors. I needed about 8-10 stitches.

Worst I've had was a case of assault by a fourteen year old. He threw a stick at my head and caused a flesh wound. I was surprised to find out that that was major assault according to German law...

That's ok, your injury is as valid as anyone's. Perhaps this week you could set your sights a bit higher & go for something a bit more damaging? Doesn't have to be life threatening though. Then you can report back & let us all know. :)

Hmm, I scolded myself with hot coffee. But that was during my brake so doesn't count.

lol

that reminds me of my poor dad, every time we'd go play catch in the back yard... (with a baseball)

i'd throw it over his head, he'd go into the woods to get it.

i'd throw it so that it would bounce short of his feet and into the woods... and he'd go into the woods to get it.

hehe

(i didn't make the errant throws on purpose, of course)

so my dad would come out of the woods checking himself for ticks.

"hey, check the back of my head, will ya?"

As a clown, I learned pretty much the same lesson entertaining at children's parties. But I have to keep my eye on the older kids too. Every once in a while some ten year old karate brat gets it into his head to roundhouse kick the clown in the jewels. :(
