How did you spend your 18th birthday?

Went into town and had a few drinks :D

I had a bday party about 2 weeks before that though because lots of my friends were going away to uni just before my actual birthday. I got hammered, too. Being 'legal' doesn't mean much with this countries youth drinking culture.

As far as sex is concerned, I was 'legal' at 16 :D

In Hong Kong, you can do the following at 18:

1. learn to drive
2. buy cigarettes
3. enter a betting station
4. vote (although the next elections are in 2008)
5. sign your own documents
6. buy alcohol / enter a bar
7. marry without parental consent
8. GO TO THE GYM DOWNSTAIRS

At the same time, however:

1. you have to pay the full fare for public transport
2. you lose legal parental protection
3. you're treated as an adult in court

I have yet to enjoy my adulthood benefits!!

How did you spend your 18th birthday?

It was 1991. I registered for Selective Service (read: The Draft, even though it technically doesn't exist in the US), at lunch, and went back to school... I was a senior in high school, then. In the evening, we all gathered over my friend's house and played 3-man (drinking game with dice) with a bottle of Bacardi and about 8 people. Good time.

Don't remember whether I had a party then or some weeks later...
At least I drank too much sparkling wine then.

In fact you're considered responsible for your actions at the age of 10 years in Britain, damn, I wish it was ten days.

Hey, come on, what Irish person doesn't celebrate ANYTHING that way! 18th, 19th, 20th,...you get the picture.

Have to admit though, what little I do remember from that night, it was a good one, but college b-day's are always better!

You're allowed to get ur driver's license at 18?

LOL

I'm 17 and I can drive by myself. :D
I got my learner's driver's license when I was 16. I currently got my novice's driver license. Two years later, if I pass the road test, I'll get my class 5 (full license). :D

Here you can get your full unrestricted license at 16 and a half if you do everything in the quickest possible way. That isn't necessarily a good thing though.

How did you spend your 18th birthday?
Went to a bar (where we'd been going to for a couple of years already ;) ) with my friends. I was the last one going in and the bouncer who knew us, decided to ask for my ID, which I duly presented. He had a look at the card, which was a bit damaged from being washed with my jeans, and said: "This is fake, you can't come in". :headbang:

My friends were all in already and I, being the only one of legal drinking age, went home to watch TV. A birthday party I'll never forget... :(
