We may have found a cure for the FLU... a lifetime vaccine.. I wonder if the one from Acambis would be effective against bird flu too.

A VACCINE that could offer lifetime protection against all types of flu is being developed by UK biotech firm Acambis.

Cambridge-based Acambis said the vaccine would end the need for people to have flu jabs each year and may also protect them against any virulent new strains that emerge.

That would mark a major breakthrough as medical chiefs around the world are braced, particularly after a number of cases of bird `flu were found this year.

Dr Thomas Monath, chief scientific officer at Acambis, said: "The need to develop a new vaccine each time a different influenza strain emerges often results in long delays before a population can be protected."

Oh and we found a vaccine for the bird flu too:

Believe me I'm most happy about this, especially the second article.

Good, I hope they develop it and make millions of pounds, dollars, or Euros on it. Long live free enterprise.

That's good news. If we can have what appears to be a dynamic vaccination, then I think we could be a lot closer to fighting AIDS.

However, it could just be that the virius will not mutate to not only a new strain, but somethign entirely new, and perhaps more deadly.

Good news, especially considering bird flu is in my region.

Then again, if God didn't want us to die of these things....

Well apparently with the bird flu, we were able to develop something fast enough and new research I've seen shows we only need 3 million vaccines to be sent to the effected areas to contain any spread.

AIDS has the tendency of mutating too into different strains. What needs to be done is preventive measures by reducing infection. One can prevent from getting it by taking cautions (like condoms).

Vietnam is one of the nations effected and is vaccinating poultry:
