I just saw it on the news, very sad to be taken at only 59, i don't know much about politics but i knew of him so that says a lot about how much he must have accomplished. Our thoughts should be with his family

It's a shame, especially at only 59.
British Politics will be all the poorer without him. :(

:(
I was by no means a fan of Mr Cook, what with him against the war, me for it, him labour, me conservative, him left-wing, me right wing. However I do know that we have lost one of our most experienced politicians, and he will be sorely missed in the house of commons.

Gutting, to be honest. The best ones always go young. Cook, Smith - oh, we could go back all the way to Bevan.
Meanwhile the shitehawks live to vast old age.
Saddening.

It's a shame for someone to die so young. I'm sure he will be missed in our house of commons for a long time. One of the few Labour politicians who doesn't just follow orders, and that takes intellect and guts. Needless to say, he had both, with wit to match it.

Not the 'just following orders' New Labour puppet. He thought for himself, and when he needed to, he proved that his principles came before his job. A good guy.

I was never a fan of Robin Cook - but he and I did agree on one point - the war in Iraq.
British Politics won't be the same without him - he was...an idealist

I was never a fan of Robin Cook - but he and I did agree on one point - the war in Iraq.
British Politics won't be the same without him - he was...an idealistI'd have to largely agree with this. I didn't agree with many of his views (and certainly did not approve of a lot of his behaviour in his personal life), but I was with him on Iraq - especially after that spectacular and utterly heart-felt resignation speech.
Furthermore, even though I didn't usually agree with what he was saying, he always put his points forward in an intelligent, often witty, manner. Whatever his politics, his sharp mind and thoughtful debate was a delight to watch and often made otherwise dull Commons debates much more interesting.
He will be missed.
A very sad day for Britain in general, a true servant of the people lost.
May our prayers be with him and his family.

The man was more of a parliamentarian than a politician. Now, if only they could all be like that.
