Have you ever received something such as this?

I posted this message on my blog:
For those of you favor the war in Iraq and the War on Terror, or even if you suppoted the crusades of President Clinton, the war of President Bush, or any other previous military affront that the various regimes have waged, I ask of you but this one request. You may surrender your liberty. You may sacrifice your precious freedoms. You may surrender your life or the principles you hold on to dearly, but don't you dare ask for me to follow in suit. If you desire to exchange your freedom for a sense of petty security, then you may do so, but I will not do that so you can merely feel safe. Go hide yourself behind your vale of altruism; let that temporary feeling keep you company. All of the State security in the world will not protect you from the tyranny that you are supporting When you finally realize what you have done, do not come to me. You have done that to yourself and you may remain in that state for eternity. I will not and cannot save you from your evil.
I received this response:
man, i would just LOVE to see your parents burn to death on 9/11! that would be so cool.
i think you watch too much CNN. tell me, did you just watch something and type out your anger here? pitiful! absolutely pitiful, liberal! you are meant to be pitied!
get a girlfriend. maybe it'll solve your anger problems. HA!
gosh, stop complaining and move to Canada. there are a lot of people like you over there.
maybe you'll actually make some friends...

Troll!
:D
Have I ever gotten messages like that? You must be new to the internet... every thread, blog or website that criticizes Bush in any way eventually attracts some neo-con dolts like that. :D
What's scary is that there are so many of them here... people like that made the difference in the last 2 elections.
P.S. Let me clarify. Not ALL conservatives are 'neo-con dolts' like the one shown here, but there's a sizable minority of them.
I posted this message on my blog:
Well, I certainly wouldn't have flamed you for your opinion... simply because I can't figure it out (not that I'm the flaming type anyway...). It all seems rather incoherent to me. (not flaming, it just didn't make semantic/syntactic sense to me)
Was your post in opposition to the military actions of the US? It could be interpreted either way.
Could you clarify what you meant?

They all have crazy-eyes like that runaway bride chick. I'm still pissed off by the coverage of that non-news.

VB, as a libertarian, I'm often inaccurately accused of being a liberal and a conservative. The overwhelming majority of people are either complete political idiots or frenzied whackjobs.
Get used to it. ;)

It's great to know I live in a country where even obsessed psychopaths get to run free and spout brainwashed propoganda! And here I was beginning to doubt the capacities of my freedom.

Nope. They can still do that and more. Just stick on here long enough and you'll read just about everything imaginable. Free speech lives! :D

The funny thing is this person who flamed you never offered up any proof over why we should support the war. All he did was flame you. Those kinds of people shouldn't be on the internet. Flamming someone over their beliefs, no matter what your beliefs are, is wrong.
Those people make me sick...

Damn, how infantile.
Your initial post isn't even a flamebait. It's just a mere request.
The douchebag who responded has some real issues. Here what you do - ignore the bugger. Life goes on. There are plenty of assholes in the world like him, so, if you ignore them, and no matter how loud they are, they will eventually get larygentis and have to shut the hell up. At which point, the rest of us will be rejoicing. :D

This person comments periodically, often with the same degree of madness. I do not mind him posting, though he can be an annoying little bugger, I'll allow him to make an ass of himself. If he wishes to say such things, he is only hurting his own reputation. I justed wanted to see if you see such posts often.
I wrote that out of irritation so I oayed little attention to semantics (my mistake. It is basically saying that I won't sacrifice my freedoms and liberties for anyone else. Id they sascrifice their freedom for security, then they can do so, but do not expect me to do the same. I wrote it after reading several blogs that concern the subject.
Eichen, it used to be rather bothersome, but not so much now.

Ahh. So it was a "US Govt + interventionisim + 'Patriot' (gaak) Act = Bad" thread more than a "Bush + Iraq + patriotisim = Bad" thread.
I can grok that. Franklin was spot on IMO.

Yeah, I've heard of stuff like that happening. Somebody posts a deliberately anger-producing, over-the-top, exaggerated piece of hyperbole - and someone responds with a vicious, stupid and abusive reply. I believed it happened on the internet 1.6 trillion times last year.

That seems like a low estimate.

True, but then which side came up with the DU again? And then you've got Markos "screw them" Zuniga. Trolls are trolls, and are abundant on both sides of the line.

I agree with your blog post that if people want to give up their freedoms for the illusion of security that they should have every right to do it but not to expect the same of everyone else, but they should expect a fight if they try to push that on everyone else. I also agree that that idjut has every right to spout his moronic ramblings. It really amusing to watch people get mad at others for not sharing their beliefs.
