Video - Bob Novak melts down on Live TV

Creepy Douchebag, Robert Novak, seems to have a thin skin. Watch the video of him losing his mind on CNN:

James Carville gave him a little poke, and the puss just crumbled. I absolutely love it when Karma makes a televised appearance.

Personally I think he used it as an excuse to leave before he could be asked about the Plame mess.

I'd walk off set if people kept interrupting me. Who knows why it was that he walked off, maybe he didn't want to answer questions about the Plame case. I doubt that's it, because he's been talking for a long time how he wants to say a lot about it...

Regardless, it's kind of humorous that you call Novak a douchebag because some asshole kept interrupting him and he didn't like it. If I'm ever in politics, I'm leaving the set EVERY TIME someone interrupts me. It's damn retarded that Journalists ask a question then can't wait until the end of your answer before they're asking another question, and it's even worse when another person they are also interviewing interrupts you so that he can insult you.

Dude, it's not journalism, it's crossfire. It's basically a forum where Democrat douchebags like James Carville and Republican douchebags like Robert Nofacts square off and yell at each other and their guests in between commercials.

I don't care if that is what you consider journalism or not. The fact of the matter is, if I were being interrupted by someone solely so they could insult me on national television (especially if it were some bullshit partisan insult), I'd stand up and walk off set as well. It's got nothing to do with whether or not that is journalism, and everything to do with the fact that Carville is an asshole and needs to learn to respect other people, even if he doesn't agree with them. You can disagree with someone WITHOUT making yourself look like a child.

You don't watch much debate on news shows do you? That's how they ALL work!

As for calling Novak a "douchebag" it's become popular culture as it was first coined on Comedy Central's "The Daily Sow"" by Jon Stewart, and besides, he is a "douchebag". ;)

No, you're right. I don't. Because I know that's how they work, and I know that it accomplishes nothing. Have you ever watched a presidential debate? I'm not saying that accomplishes a whole lot, but at least both idiots get their points out and it's not boiled down into commercially sponsored childishness on live telivision.

I'm not saying that debates on news programs need to be that strict on debate rules...but if all these douchebags would just stop and give the person on the other side of the table the opportunity to say his peace, then these shows might be worth watching.

Just because this is how news shows do their debate doesn't mean that it's still childish and that Robert Novak wasn't right in walking off set because someone interrupted him so they could insult him. There's a fucking moderator setting across the table from them, he could've told that other guy to shut up and let Novak finish, but instead he was trying to join in.

Yeah, I saw that show on CNN too, political interview shows are terrible these days. The only one somewhat decent today is Meet the Press. The greatest interviewer IMHO is the great William F Buckley (http://www.americasvoices.org/images/BuckleyW.jpg) . His show back in the day (Firing Line) was an awesome show. He rarely ever lost a debate and was knowledgable on most every subject he spoke of.

The only thing that I think was really childish was what Novak did, given despite your views on news show debates, that's the business he's in. Therefore he gets paid a lot of money to work within this format. Believe me, he dishes it out as much if not more as he gets it. I've never seen Carville walk off stage when Novak has done the same to him. So, as much as you may disagree with the format, that is your right and you decide to not take part, where as Novak makes big bucks to do it and he knows exactly what he's walking into.. he just took a temper tantrum, my 7 year old son does it once in a while too.

You're missing the point. Novak is part of that circle, he is perfectly willing to interupt and insult just like the rest of them. Except now he's part of a story-part of a scandal. It's easier to hiss out your bitchin' and insulting newsmakers when you're just a commentator, but now he's on the other end of it--a place he was more than willing to spit venom, and he can't hang.

If he had a track record of not interupting and not being insulting, you'd have a point. But he doesn't. Quite the opposite. So this is a tissy and not self rightiousness.

CNN I think secretly wanted this to happen. Their ratings are in the crapper, and a mental freakout maybe able to boost their numbers a little bit. I'd like to see these party operatives just lose it and maybe body slam the other side, tombstone, or give em a good ole Stone Cold Stunner. The ratings would explode. :)

I agree. Crossfire is yet another example of the blurring the distinction between facts and entertainment.

It's getting harder to get the facts with the CNN-style crap intended to hook viewers for an extra few minutes, just gotta get you to see one more advertisement. What's next, live special effects - maybe staged fistfights, kinda like 'professional wrestling'?

I decry the current trend of news entertainment. I don't find it entertaining, and I actually think it's misleading the public. I have abundant news resources elsewhere, newsfeeds, blogs, headline news, C-Span. So they can all go pound salt, I'm done.

Faulty logic. The situation is obviously different, and by this point, I'm of the opinion that walking away could very easily make the situation worse.

Being mature is about knowing when walking away will improve the situation and when it will hurt the situation. If the worse thing that happens when you walk away is that some kids on some forum on the internet are going to start calling you a douchebag, then big deal, just walk away.

There's clearly more at stake in Iraq.

News Flash: Novak was suspended from his show for walking out. So I don't think he improved the situation. He's still in the middle of the controversy but now he might get fired too. Yeah walking away definitely made things worse.

You know, this whole episode brings up an interesting question: Is Bob Novak a Douchebag or a Pussy?

One need only point to the years of hateful slime this Jack-ass has let ooze from his mouth to make a convincing case for his Douchebaggedness. Yet, recent events have now put the spotlight on his complete Pussyhood. It seems he rolled over and sold out his buddy Rove at the first opportunity. Then as we saw in the video, one little remark about his lack of backbone is enough to send him into hysterics.

Now I know some of you are thinking... "why can't he be both a Pussy and a Douchebag? While I admit that this is possible, it is very rare. The very dogged and determined nature of Douchebags usually gives them enough self-righteous arrogance to avoid pussification. In this case, though, perhaps the case can be made for both traits. It's a tough call. Let's have a poll!

Is Bob Novak:

1. A Douchebag
2. A Pussy
3. Incredibly, He is Both.

You Decide!!!

Whoops, you had a typo there! ^_^;

Let's try it this way, "It's like the Jerry Springer show for people with IQs *under* 80".

There, fixed! ;)

The fact of the matter is that anyone who relies upon television for their news is being foolish and anyone who thinks interuption is a legitimate part of political debate is *twice* a fool. Hecklers may have their place but not upon the podium.

*shrugs*

That said, I suppose we could regard Crossfire as an example of why TV deserves its future death at the hands of the Net as a news medium in the first place. The nice thing about message boards is that you can't be interupted, you can't be shouted down and you've as much time as you like to think about what you want to say as you wish *if* you wish. :)

He didn't really crumble.

He's been ganged up on and insulted on CNN the entire time he's been there.

He fricken owns Capital Gang and even that is loaded with liberals to gang up on him. I think it's about time he put his foot down and said he isn't going to take it anymore.

He doesn't need to put up with their shit and their inferior ratings, go to Fox is my advice for him.

Just look at the figures, Drudge posts them once in a while.

FoxNews consistently gets more than 2.5 million viewers with it's primetime block of O'Reilly, Hannity, and van Susteran, when Larry King (the most popular show on CNN) only gets slightly less than 700k.

Novak's conservative, he'd fit in better and get treated better at Fox. He's just a liberal punching bag on CNN, and doesn't stick up for himself because he's friends with these people.

See page 11 for why he's such a big pussy on camera. He needs to grow some balls and move to Fox.

FoxNews aren't the ones doing ridiculous primetime headlines about a pair of gay penguins in a zoo. *Cough* CNN courting gays *Cough*

Fox also doesn't have obnoxious bullshit shows with metrosexual toughguys throwing pens around like CNN and MSNBC too.

Both are politically biased. At least FoxNews doesn't put on two other conservatives on Hannity and Colmes to bully up on ole Pizzaface like CNN does to Novak regularly, I'm surprised they didn't have Michael Moore and Al Franken in on there with Jimmey.

Fox news stories:

- Sinead: I'm Not Crazy: One-time pop sensation Sinead O'Connor (search) was back in the news Friday -- by taking out a full-page ad pleading for people to stop making fun of her.

- We Like Short Shorts: Jessica Simpson turns 'Dukes' fans on to cowboy boots, denim bottoms
