Who's the best team ever?
Well you certainly left the field wide open. Given that, I would have to say it would have to be one of the teams back in the late 60's or very early 70's when there were not so many rules that the quarterback could walk onto the field in a businss suit, call 4 plays and walk off again without getting dirty. I'd have to go with the Jets, Chiefs, Dolphins or Vikings. Teams today just couldn't hang. The rules back then just were not made to provide for long carreers, but they sure ensured that only the toughest played for more than a year or two.

It's a hard call because there are so many differences to account for in terms of eras. The Packers of the '60s and the Steelers of the '70s were big, brawny teams for their eras if I'm not mistaken, but they'd all be grossly undersized against the Patriots, who aren't the BIGGEST team in American football.
For their era, I'd say the Steelers were probably the best team in football, though it was hard for me to go against the Green Bay Packers. The San Francisco 49ers didn't earn Team of the Eighties until late in the decade because the Washington Redskins had been to more Super Bowls after the 1987 season. Dallas earning Team of the Nineties was basically on the strength of their four year run of winning three Super Bowls. The Pats are definitely the team of the Aughties, though.

The Packers are the greatest NFL team of all time. I'm not biased as I'm an Eagles diehard.
http://www.packers.com/history/championships/
The Green Bay Packers have won more championships - 12 - than any other team in National Football League history.
They won their first three by league standing (1929, 1930 and 1931), and nine since the NFL's playoff system was established in 1933 (1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1996).
Green Bay also is the only NFL team to win three straight titles, having done it twice (1929-30-31 and 1965-66-67).
In addition, the Packers won the first two Super Bowls (over Kansas City in 1966, 35-10, and over Oakland in 1967, 33-14), as well a more recent one (over New England in 1996, 35-21).
Since the league implemented a playoff system in 1933, the Packers have played in the NFL's deciding game 12 times (10 NFL title appearances from 1936-67, two Super Bowls after the 1970 merger). Only the Giants (17) have played for more titles.
Most NFL Championships: Green Bay Packers 12, Chicago Bears 9, New York Giants 6, Dallas Cowboys 5, San Francisco 49ers 5, Washington Redskins 5, Cleveland Browns 4, Detroit Lions 4, Pittsburgh Steelers 4.

I can't pick Seahawks? Ok.
Clearly, it has to be the Patriots. They created a dynasty in an era when that was supposed to be impossible. And while past teams (Steelers for example) might have been harder, the players today (while being prissy millionaires) are bigger, stronger, and faster.
Yeah, if the Patriots faced off against the Steel Curtain, with the old rules, they might look a little rough for at most a quarter. After that the atheletes of today would just outclass those of yesteryear, and dirty tricks just wouldn't be enough.
Da Pittsburgh Stillers, you nebshit.

Best Franchise in NFL History:
Green Bay Packers
More NFL titles than anyone: 12
They've been around since about 1920, putting them with the Bears (and Cardinals, actually, who started in Chicago) as the oldest franchises still in the National Football League.
Legendary figures:
Vince Lombardi (coach)
Curly Lambeau (player and coach)
Bart Starr
Brett Favre
Don Hutson
Jim Taylor
(and many others)
The Packers won nine NFL championships before the first Super Bowl, and three Super Bowls, which is where the 12 NFL titles comes from.
This season, the Packers should be great on offense with such weapons as:
WR - Javon Walker, Donald Driver, Robert Ferguson
RB - Ahman Green
QB - Brett Favre
The key to the Pack's success will be the play of the defense. If the D can be just average, this is a team that should win 10+ games. If the defense don't improve at least somewhat over last year's dismal performance, the Packers will struggle to make the playoffs.
What should happen: lots of high-scoring games.
Favre is one of the game's legendary quarterbacks... he's inching toward some of Marino's big all-time passing records.
But he's Favre after all -- he will have a couple of games in which he tosses 4 interceptions and sabotages the packers' chances to win. These usually happen on the road, in dome stadiums.
The Packers are the most successful team in NFL history, based on league championships. Also, the team has the best fans in the world. The waiting list for Packers season tickets is about 30 years long. lol
Wisconsin is great at making cheese (despite the claims of California. lmao. cows don't give a crap about weather. two uncles of mine are farmers and know...)... the famousness of Wisconsin cheese budded into an industry: the cheese head (hat).
You can know you're watching a Packers game if you see orange/yellow cheese wedge-shaped hats being worn by the fans in the stadium. Such fans are referred to as Cheeseheads, and the term is applied to all Packers fans (or people from Wisconsin), whether or not they don the hat.

You have at least to look at which team consistently end in the playoff or with a winning record. As such, I say that the Miami Dolphins (despite last year's woes) have to be ranked up there with the Dallas Cowboys, the Green Bay Packers, the Pittsburg Steelers.

Tom Brady is a great QB, no doubt. But, it's not about how many Super Bowls he's won... It's the way he plays the position.

A. Kelly, Marino, and Vick weren't Dilfer's contemporaries. McNabb, maybe, though McNabb was on his way in when Dilfer was on his way out.
B. Not as such, because Dilfer didn't really win games. His defense did. But the ultimate measurement of a quarterback isn't passing yards or touchdowns, it's winning games when it counts.

Many of the players from the '72 team that returned in '73 were of the opinion that the second team was the stronger team. They played the games, I'm inclined to take their word for it.
I have to ask why you hate the Broncos!
Because they are bitches, as are their fans, and it's the right thing to do.
As an aside, I would say the Bronco fans are the worst in all of football, just miserable people, Vikings fans come a distant second. Raider nation, are generally a bunch of good guys who like to shout abusive language and mainly get liquored up, and even as a Seahawk fan, they can be a lot of fun. I was exaggerating, but like I said upthread, an offense doesn't put up as many points as Dallas's did without a top notch quarterback.
Plus, he had a rocket for an arm, read the field like a master, and was cool under pressure. The only major defect that I think he had was the fact that he was so regularly injured.

I remember a Monday Night Football Game in 1990 between the Lions and Raiders, and Jackson and Sanders were teeing off on each other, it was one of the funnest regular season football games I've ever watched (both guys had huge runs, back to back, both were over 200 total yards ea., if I recall correctly)... It was great. :)
