Poll for SPIRIT drinkers
New Fubaria

OK, from my last poll, seems like a lot of people here are spirit drinkers - now the question is: what spirits? :D
Absolut and snaps, of course.

Whisky, whisky, whisky.
Rum ain't bad, but I boycott Bacardi's, so it's a pain in the ass to order when I go out. I like gin, too, and tequila. Vodka, but only in mixed drinks.
Irish whiskey! :D*Canadian whisky kicks Irish whisky's ass in a drunken brawl*

I'm not really a fan of spirits, but if I had to choose, it'd be White Rum.

LOL - I guess "other" would be the closest :p

Nah. Canadian whiskey is good, though.

I'd also be surprised if brandy gets a vote...maybe I shoulda put cognac on there instead?

You should have put both in one choice.
I'd also be surprised if brandy gets a vote...maybe I shoulda put cognac on there instead?I, for one, love brandy. I just love whisky slightly more. It'll get votes.

I like Beenleigh dark rum.
I'm usually a scotch drinker (Johhny Walker black or blue label), but Beenleigh is a good drop, dark and light...

Usually Vodka is what is on hand. I'm not a fan, but it kills your tastebuds pretty quick, so it doesn't matter.
But I also have Tequila, and all the other things if offered.

Maybe they're too pissed to click on the poll? Takes too much coordination.

I've tried to cultivate a taste for scotch, but I can't get it to work out. Part of the problem might be I tried to start off with single malts, and some of what I've read indicated starting off with blended and working your way up to single malts works better. But for the most part it's "Holy fuck this is gasoline! And maybe a little hint of oak furniture (freshly varnished)" Strangely, I find tequila sweet, maybe a little sharp sometimes but entirely palatable.
I'm usually a scotch drinker (Johhny Walker black or blue label), but Beenleigh is a good drop, dark and light...
Blue label? You rich bastard!
That's like 150 dollars a bottle!
I'm still considering whether it's worth it to buy the green label. :(
Poor, poor me. The most expensive scotch I've had is black label.

Jägermeister! Or ouzo, depending on my mood.

well..my vote is Scotch. Vodka should be drunk only by women, Russian men, or men of the homosexual persuasion...not that i am homephoebic...but come on..vodka!

Favourites:
Laphroaig 15 Year Old, Macallan 18 Years Old
(both very fine single malt whiskies)
Uh, I've had it like half a dozen times, and by the glass, not by the bottle :p
Is it worth it?

I've voted for Gin, Bombay Sapphire's my favourite with slimline tonic.
I like dark rum, mixed with cola it's better than white rum, although white rum's ok.
Can't stand JD and only like a few single malt whiskys.
Vodka is alright, although only tastes of what you mix it with.
Campari is great on a hot day with lemonade and ice.
I also like brandy, it's best mixed with port - a killer combination.
Tequila is the devil's piss. But I do like a margarita 'cos all you taste is the lime.

A nice single malt whisky... something like Oban or Laphroaig.
A good "budget" whisky is Jameson's though!
Cognac seems to be the choice of the recent months....though single malt scotch is always a viable alternative.
well..my vote is Scotch. Vodka should be drunk only by women, Russian men, or men of the homosexual persuasion...not that i am homephoebic...but come on..vodka!
Depends on the vodka. Cheap vodka tastes terrible, so you have to mix it. And i'd agree with your point. Mixed vodka is girly. :p
...but really good vodka will put hair on your foreskin. :D
bourbon *sighs* i'm a posh bastard
You're kidding, right? Most bourbon is cheap...

I call it a Russian tickler. :p
I used to drink a fair bit of Finlandia & Absolut, but I never noticed the "Russian Tickler" phenomenon. Although, that may have been due to "overactivity" of the specific area. :D

Gin, Vodka, Tequila, and Burbon are tied for first. It depends on what mood I'm in. Maybe I want a martini, maybe I want vodka with juice, maybe I'm doing tequila shots, or maybe I'm in the mood for Jim Beam and cola.

Vodka and anise flavoured liquors: Ouzo, Sambuco, Jagermeister. All other hard liquors are too disgusting to drink, but out of curiousity I'd be forced to swallow Absinthe if I ever had the chance.

I like sour mash whiskey (Jack Daniel's is one), but i like single-malt Scotch just a little bit more.
for mixed drinks, I like Captain Morgan (Coke), vodka (orange juice, cranberry juice, etc.) and Bacardi Limon (7-Up)
The empty bottle sitting on the desk says vodka
So does mine, but that's probably because I run out of Whiskey yesterday :D

Amaretto and Absinth are curiously missing from the poll.

Perhaps because they are licquers rather than spirits
Also, with only 10 choices available, would I really put relatively obscure drinks ahead of generic spiritis like vodka, scotch or gin?
By Choice - Single Malt. Preferably Talisker.
By Pocketbook - Summer, the cheapest palatable Vodka & Canadian Whisky I can buy, Winter, Ditto for Brandy & Spiced Rum.

I always figured that the liquer thing was just people being pretentious. Put me over.
And obscurity is far less important than being incredibly awsm. Really, I wouldn't even drink if it weren't for amaretto and absinth.
Cognac, my favorite spirit, my favorite liquid =)

In the summer I keep mine in the freezer for a quick slug...
Real Brain Freeze that.
Yes. But I wouldnt drink it all the time...you'd get used to it...
At this point in time of my life I can't afford to drink it all the time. I daren't even ask how much one shot of blue label at a bar would cost.
And what is this... all the types of whiskey combined still don't beat out vodka?
I mean come on! Whiskey is clearly superior.

Scotch is truly the manliest of drinks.
On the other hand anyone can drink vodka.
The reason I prefer bourbon over scotch is because you have to want scotch to have scotch. Whereas bourbon, it doesn't matter how you feel, always tastes good. Scotch is definately #2 for me.
And yes once again... it is the manliest of drinks.
Scotch is truly the manliest of drinks.
I call foul. If you want to prove your manhood through spirits, you either drink high-proof moonshine or you drink pure Grain Alcohol. Zero sophistication, crude, and bound to get you screwed the hell up. There is no other way.
