I thought I'd start this to raise awareness about those we feel have been falsely convicted/or treated unfairly by the respective justice systems. For me one of the worst examples of "American justice" are the The West Memphis 3 (http://www.wm3.org/).
I'm sure that there are many more please share them and raise awareness.

The case of Osmo Vallo. (http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGEUR420022002?open&of=ENG-SWE)

Fortunately, Sweden has suffered severe criticism from international Human Rights agencies for this. It still has, however, not led to anyone being held accountable. :(

Well, these are cases in the US, but I'll list them anyway.

Mumia Abul-Jamal ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumia_Abu_Jamal)

Leonard Peltier ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Peltier)

In Canada:

Neil Stonechild (http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/stonechild/)

and Maher Arar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maher_Arar) (his official site (http://www.maherarar.ca/))

And a societal blindness to the murder of aboriginal women (http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2004/10/03/amnestyreport041003.html).

I'm familiar with Peltier and Abul Jamal.
IMO Peltier got screwed but Abul Jamal got what he deserved there was a detailed forensic reveiw of his case and it seems like a very strong case against him. I'll research the others.

In Ireland there was the Gilford 4 and Birmingham 6 etc... but that was a while ago.

At the moment the Rossport 5 are in jail. I f*ckin love them! They are these old men from a little village in an isolated part of Ireland, and they wouldnt let a multinational oil company (shell) run through thier town. And they are allowed out on bail or something if they appologise but they refuse to! Total legends!, so typical of stubborn old men in the west of Ireland.

Heres one link about it http://www.swp.ie/socialistworker/2005/sw245/sw-245-1.htm

Yeah its pretty funny, I don't know if it is photoshopped or what. It looks like they captured him in your friend's mom's laundry closet or something. Where the hell are they keeping him anyway?

Societal blindness to the murder of Native women is not confined to Canada. In the US and Mexico it's a huge problem, too.

Considering the evidence, Mumia Abu-Jamal is pretty guilty.

All I've seen about the West Memphis Three was the documentary about them, which was trying to convince me that they were innocent and it left me thinking they were very much guilty.

You break the law, you go to jail. Simple as.
Do not whine about it- contempt of court- go to jail- apologise for being in contempt- they get released.

Moronic way of protesting, they think they're still living in '68 or something

i feel no sympathy for them- if they DON'T WANT to stay in jail, then they DON'T HAVE TO.

Its a matter of principal, showing that multinationals can't walk all over the odainary people. You obviously have not all the right facts, i suggest you look into it more.
