i love my beard like i love peanut butter and baby seals!
My well-trimmed goatee is good enough...thank you. :p
I'm actually growing a beard at the moment. 3,5 weeks in, and it's still in that stage where it looks not so nice. But, I have until the end of August before Uni restarts, so I should have something presentable by then.
I hope. :\
Where did you get my picture from PM? And just think, i only stopped shaving 3 days ago. :D

Ah, what I wouldn't give to have a good beard...
...or decent looking facial hair, for that matter. Bum fluff suits no-one, regardless of how cool they may think they look with cotton-wool sideburns and an arse-beard goatee. Once it's grown out proper, though...

Pfft. Just gimme five days. :p
The only time I start to get a beard is when I just can't be bothered to shave.

OK, show of hands...
How many of you thought PM was talking about penises (peni?) when you read the title?
Come on, raise those hands!

PM would never want people to think that.
Any way I heard that the more you think about sex the faster facial hair grows. That explains why some men with beards look like perverts, because they actually are.

"Penises" is correct. So is the actual latin plural "penes". Only nouns that end in -ius (like radius) get -ii in the plural. So, "peni" and "penii" are both completely wrong.

Peni sounds better.
But about your "-ius" rule...what about words like "virus"? I hear "virii" all the time. (which legitimizes my use of "Jesi" to describe multiple instances of Jesus)

I would like to see someone try for a reverse Dali mustache.
You know how Dali occaisonally made his mustache curl oddly like this (http://home.rixtele.com/~urdskalla/Skivomslag/Salvador_Dali.jpg)?
Well, I'd like to see someone wax their mustache straight out on the ends, have it bisected in the middle, and have the ends there curl up.

No to me, or anyone who knows how to inflect correctly.

"Virii" is just simply wrong. "Virus" (a sort of poison) had no plural in latin - it wasn't countable, so it didn't need one. The only possible plural in English is "viruses," as there is no possible latin plural.
This is a very educating article on the subject. (http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mplurals.html)

I actually get great amusement from these champion beard and mustache growers so I decided I would brighten peoples days and grow a big handlebar mustache. My girlfriend was far from amused once it got too long and I started waxing and shaping it. I thought it was hilarious and many people would either get a good laugh or they would be silent and pretend not to notice like some people do with the handicapped. This was a huge source of fun for me but I wasn't getting enough poonani from teh gf so I shaved it off.

As a Latin student, I can say the "-us" does go to "-i" to change number. "Virii" isn't accurate. It would be "viri" if anything, but that's not an English word.

Nor a latin one as a plural to "virus" (it does, however, mean "men" in Latin).
