If there were peace on earth...
with absoloutely no violent conflicts, no famine, no disease, etc how do you think certain people would react? Would humanity feel as if they are insignificant because there's nothing interesting going on? Explain how you would react to this.

I couldn't begin to imagine such a world. It would be far too alien. The conflict and suffering so common to the world has shaped our language, our culture, and our very thoughts and imagination.

But...but where would all the teenagers direct their attentions? None of us would be angry at each other, none of us would be angry at the ignorance surrounding 3rd world plight, none of us would go off to join the army as a job option and none of us would get STDs in our first sexual experiments.
On the other hand. Humanity would probably react by overpopulating the globe at about ten times the current rate, resultying in us all dying from lack of food in the long run, so teenage angst misdirection would be fulfilled then.

No they wouldn't. If there was no fear of children dying young, or a need to have many children as a sort of retirement fund, the birth rate would drop. Just as it has in wealthy nations.
There could never be peace on earth, there will always be corrupt leaders taking people freedom, starting wars and uprisings, and there will always be natural disasters such as famines. It just could not happen.

Well, I've been fortunate enough to live a life relatively untouched by violent conflicts, famine and disease. Mostly I just read about them in the newspaper. So really my life wouldn't be changed all that much if there were peace on earth. Thanks, by the way, for making me realize how fortunate I have been.
One thing that would change would be the measures that we take to prevent conflict. We would no longer need a police force or a military or locks on our doors. It would also make for a very trusting, possibly more communal society.

That isn't entirely true - alot of the multiple child family ideas come from beliefs and the like. Anyway, people will always feel the need to have children beyond the simple 'fill my place for when I'm gone'. Biological imperative, the biological clock, and all that.

I think that would lead to a major over-population problem. So then we whould have to start build colonies on the moon. lol

This is supposed to be, "What if." No, it could not happen, but this thread is about what would happen if it did.

We'd probably have no need for a heirarchical government structure at all. In fact, no government, no army, no police, no lawyers... There would be a sudden, massive board-sweep of unemployment soon after such a sudden change.
One question to the topic creator: You said no violent Conflicts. But then, something can be peaceful but still contradictory to empathy, so does this include other legal misdemeanors like Theft and Harassment?

Well, if we are to follow the 'what if' arguement to the end that the OP has intended, we would have to make some other assumptions, one being that the nature of mankind must change. Obviously, I believe mankind as flawed and inherantly 'bad'. If mankind's nature, then, remained the same, someone somewhere would find a way to exploit the earth.

There wouldn't be a need for people to steal, but because of human nature some crimes would continue to persist, so a light police force would be required.

Just the beginning of the end. Man's nature is the flaw. Remove man, you have a peaceful earth. :D

Yes, they pretty much would. This situation is described in the Bible and other mythological depictions of Heaven. The only consolation for those living there is they may be insignificant, but they can glory fully in God's greatness.
If it happened on earth... well, that depends on the obviously artificial method used to get there. People would be upset if it was achieved through totalitarianism and absolute control.

i agree here for sure the world would end because half the people on earth would go mad if this happened.

Maybe they'd be so bored that they'd build a big space ship. That'll be good.

The Bible also talks about a time when Jesus will reign on earth and there will be peace. Even to an athiest, this may seem to be the most plausible way for worldwide peace to be achieved. :)

Remove man and you would still have predators killing prey and animals within a species fighting for supremacy. Not very peaceful. I agree with you that man's nature is flawed, but I would say that if peace if to be achieved the world must become less bestial, not more so.

If there was peace on earth, I would take the advice of Monty Python and make everyone go insane.
You can start in small ways with ping-pong ball eyes and a funny voice and then you can paint half of your body red and the other half green and then you can jump up and down in a bowl of treacle going "squawk, squawk, squawk..." And then you can go "Neurhhh! Neurhhh!" and then you can roll around on the floor going "pting pting pting"...

Partly out of boredom, partly out of ideology and partly to ensure that someone a lot worse than me doesn't do it first.
