Oh man, why are there no threads about this?

Three months on machines to allow the fetus to be delivered fetus...

Jason Torres quit his job to be by his wife's side, spending each night sleeping in a reclining chair next to her bed. Last month, the fetus passed the 24th week of development — the earliest point at which doctors felt the baby would have a reasonable chance to survive, the brother-in-law said.

Torres was about seven months pregnant when the child was delivered. Doctors had hoped to hold off on delivering the child until 32 weeks' gestation. A full-term pregnancy is about 40 weeks.

The baby, born after about 26 weeks' gestation, was being monitored in the neonatal intensive care unit of Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. A pregnancy is considered full term at 40 weeks.

What do you think? Does this stuff change the way you feel about abortion and options at all, or is it irrelevant and unrelated?

I don't think this issue has anything to do with abortion. She clearly intended to carry this child to term. I'm glad that despite her stroke, her child survived.

its a "miracle" of modern medicine that they could keep a "dead" woman alive for months so that the child she carried could be given a chance to live

of course if the husband had felt differently about it, it would have been OK to let her and her fetus die 4 months ago.
