I hate dancing. I loathe it, really.
It's no fun doing it, it's no fun watching it, it's not even fun talking about it. So there....

Wtf is wrong with my posts? I haven't moved into another time zone, have I?

I love dancing!

Good on you!

Me, I don't like it because I can't do it. Seriously. I have two left feet. On that, where did that saying come from anyway?

following on from this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=435527) thread, where it was evident that a lot of blokes absolutley hate dancing in all its forms, here's a spin-off poll.

so, do you like dancing?

me, i can't stand it. i'm too self-concious for that sort of thing anyway, but more than that the problem is i just don't know what to do with myself. i rarely feel any kind of connection with the music, and i'm usually too busy thinking about how stupid i look and what my arms should do next to move coherently in any way, shape or form. people have told me in the past you've got to let your body do the moving and not think about what you're doing... which is impossible for me (unless i'm drunk, which is why thats the only time you might ever see me dance) as my brain tells my body what to do, simple as that. if my brain doesn't know what to do, neither does my body. how can it work any other way?

there are two types of people:

Those who dance to music.
and those who make music.

I prefer to make it.

Also, Im a "Ragin' Causasian on the dance floor, baby", if you catch my drift.

there are times where i absolutely loathe dancing and i certainly wouldn't say that i love doing it but all in all, i'd say i like dancing. i may make an absolute fool out of myself at times but at least i'm having fun during the process. the thing i hate the most is where you have a friend who won't dance at any cost even though everyone else is dancing.

I love dancing. I met my wife while dancing. (Met a lot of other women the same way prior to meeting my wife. ;) )

That's the advantage to being a man who dances: there are always more women dancing than men. And if you're a good dancer, the women will ask you.

It really depends on what style of dance you are talking about. I enjoy participating in and watching the majority of dance styles, except line dancing which seems like aerobics to me.

What I like about dance is the freedom of expression and interpretation of music that it allows.

Actually, the issue is a bit more complex for me than your poll makes allowance for. I don't like "fast dancing." I love being able to hold a woman close and dance that way with her, or the Tango, or even the friggin' Lambada. But to stand three feet away from her, gyrating like some demented dervish leaves me cold.

That has nothing to do with dancing. Dancing takes a degree of skill and practice.

stage diving takes skill. you have to coordinate your freinds to catch you, and deftly avoid the bouncers, run up and kiss the singer, then jump, and get up before you are trampled to death.

Wait a minute...you are seriously telling me that watching some hot, tight-bodied beauty like Beyonce or Shakira shaking their gifts for all they're worth isn't fun? Even if they are dancing with some guy...I'm sure your eyes are fastened securely on the women's endowments...and that's not fun?? I could watch Ciara gyrate ALL DAY LONG.

I love watching good dancers dance. Especially women...we get to do it with more flair than men I guess, and look sexier doing it. Guys can be damn hot dancing too...all in all, dancing to me is just a leadup to wild, hot, wet...um....frolicking. Which is no doubt why some people think music is evil :D

Growing up off reserve I got to see two kinds of dancing. At 'white' parties (because to be honest, in rural areas, it's quite often just 'whites' and natives, though I by no means groups all pale-skinned people together:)) only the girls danced, and that happened very rarely. At the native parties, we all danced. Natives have loved hip-hop and rap for about as long as it's been out there, and you'll find some great dancers on the reserves (well hell, we don't have much else to do, do we?). When we'd have mixed parties, there would invariably be this sort of 'face off' between the one Italian guy in my school (the only guy who danced) and us. It was great! Everyone loved to watch...it was always the highlight of the night, and I could never understood why the white kids were so timid about dancing! They would stand in little groups on the floor, or sit on the sides while we danced. It was so weird.

Since I met my husband, I've become enamored of latin dancing...cumbias, merengues, (no tangos...shit those are complicated, and he just can't do it), cuecas and so on. Talk about a workout! I love it!

Providing I can get myself into the mindset to really, really not give a crap about what anyone else there thinks of me, I'll dance. I've done it a few times.

Of course, I use the word "dance" in its loosest meaning. I just kind of throw myself about in rough time to the music. But I enjoy it. And it gives everyone else something to laugh at.

I'm a guy that loves to dance. Uprocking, Popping, Breaking, Jitdance, and just palin moving to the music. I dance to Old School Jungle, DnB, techno, Electro and the like most often, but have no problem moving it to the rythm of whatever music is playing, so long as its good and has a nice beat.

I will regularily dance for four hours or more, (my record is 9 hours, and I only stopped because the party was over) taking only short breathers to pace myself. I use NO drugs, but after about 2 or 3 hours of dancing, I get something like a runners high, but much more intense because the music and dancing make for a kind of synergy that feels awesome. Its a natural way to get very pleasantly high and it beats Ecstasy by a mile. I think part of the reason I get this long lasting rush is because at one time I did use ecstasy, LSD and crystal, while dancing, so my brain still associates dancing with those altered states, but enters them naturally as a result of effort and exertion rather than being triggered by some dubious chemical.

I also love dancing with a partner, be it slow or fast. It just makes the experience even more fun. Battling is awesome fun too, its like a ticket to show-off and it can be a real learning experience to boot. Dancing is one of the ultimate forms of self-expression, and I really wish more people could enjoy it as much I do.
