George Bush is about to take his 49th vacation as President. Number 49 will be the single longest vacation a President has ever taken.

How about before we let him take number 50, we require that he actually keep the promise he made about capturing or killing Osama? Oh wait... did I actually suggest that Bush should tell the truth or keep a promise??? I must be insane.

Whether or not he does get work done on his vacations doesn't really matter much. It's about morale. People are going to get upset if he's always out of office, whether or not he does work on these vacations. If he stayed in the White House more, we wouldn't have so much to get upset about.

That said, does he get any work done? Small stuff sure. But he needs to be working on the big stuff. He needs to show us he's competant.

Bush passed more legislation then most presidents. Bush has done more then most presidents. Bush has done far more then Clinton. So what if he wants to take a vacation? Really he's never on vacation. He's on constant call. Just like my dad. My dad can take his "vacation" time bu he's always on call.

So the notion that he has a real vacation is bullshit.

I beleive it's this one. I recall hearing that Bush has spent more time on vacation during his presidency than any other president ever.

I'm heading out of the city and into the mountains for a week. Old cottage, fresh clean lake, no neighbours on the opposite shore (skinny dipping!), a mountain next door, and no gas-powered anything allowed on the water. Only sails, oars, or those little electric motors.

The only bitch of it is I gotta leave at 6 AM tomorrow. That, and I won't be around NationStates. Does that ever sound corny. But sadly, it's true. I will miss you all. Well, most of you. Okay some of you. Alright apart from one or two of you...

What does it matter if he isn’t at the White House? Presidents no longer have to talk to regular people anymore. They only meet with reporters when they want to, and they don’t have appointments with regular folks. There was once a time when the office of President was somewhat informal but still dignified and not beyond the reach of the people. Things have sure changed.
