I am proud that my former Prime Ministre jean Chretien was the first world leader to be pied (http://www.bioticbakingbrigade.org/).

I am proud that my former Prime Ministre jean Chretien was the first world leader to be pied (http://www.bioticbakingbrigade.org/).Oh, no. Stuff like that shouldn't be encouraged, my favorite politician got his eardrum ruptured due to something similar... :(

Anyway, I'm not proud of my country, rather, I'm ashamed of it. On the other hand, I'm proud of my country, especially in sports :D
Muahahaha! Gotta love dual-citizenship!

Muahahaha! Gotta love dual-citizenship!Some people deserve to be pied. Alberta Premier Ralph Klien recently got it.
And it was gooood.

Be more specific about what you're proud of. It can be little things, or things that you sholudn't be proud of, but secretly are (jean Chretien strangled a protestor who threatened him).

I don't believe in being patriotic, so I will say that I'm proud of Venezuela for having elected the first Native American President in the history of the Americas, I'm proud of Canada for saying no to the war in Iraq, I'm proud of India for producing a great thinker like Gandhi, I'm proud of Iraq for being the cradle of Western civilization, I'm proud of Greece for producing the works of Plato and Aristotle, I'm proud of Israel (although it wasn't called Israel at the time) for producing Jesus, I'm proud of Colombia for producing some of the most beautiful women in the world, and I'll even say I'm proud of the US, for providing the birthplace of the Blues.

The USA is guided by a constitution that protects freedom of speech, assembly, and religion. We haven't always lived up to the potential of that great documnent, but we keep trying.

My country has been slowly but steadily moving toward becomming more fair and just. It took time to eliminate such attrocities as slavery, second class status for women, and Jim Crow laws, but we do make progress over time.

Also Jesus likes us best. Dubya told me so. ;)

Alot of what my friend here said (minus the whole Jesus thing).

The United States is indeed a very free nation. You can say what you want, when you want, how you want, without ever needing to worry about some secret-police breaking down your door.

There are problems however, politicians have tried censoring, limiting religions, and putting the corporation above the welfare of the people.

Nothing a little revolution of the prolietariat wont solve though! :p

I'm proud of my country for....about 80 minutes, every other Saturday, for five or six weeks, in spring. Usually, the pride doesn't last the entire 80 minutes, but this year, it did.

What are you proud of your country for?
There's a long, long list. Here are just a few:

* For the right to freedom of expression

* For the opportunities it offers

* For the right to defend yourself

* For its history of continuing to improve race relations

* For having people from every country and region on the planet as citizens

* For its humanitarian efforts ( both governmental and privately financed )

* For being able to kick ass and take names when it's necessary

Even though we lose nearly every sporting competition, I'm proud of the fact that we still try.

I'm proud that we haven't been invaded for a thousand years. (Come on you pedants, I can hear you muttering)

I'm proud that still have our own currency, unlike those poor sad people in Euroland who allowed theirs to be given away.

And believe it or not, I'm even proud of our former colony across the pond, which I still think is one of the best things that ever happened to this planet (We let them win their indepence, ok?). Admittedly, they have given us Madonna, Disney, friendly fire and Dubya, not to mention endless bloody whinging about how terrible Vietnam was... but I still think the world would be a worse place without the United States of Whatever.

I'm proud to be an American.
I'm proud to be apart of this country.
I'm proud of everything this country strives for, and I support it fully. I am patriotic. I salute the flag each and every morning. The United States is where I was born, and it is where I will stay, through better or worse.
I love my country, and I couldn't be any more proud of it, or myself, for each and every accomplishment and step it has taken to better itself, or even other countries.
I believe in the United States of America, and I'm proud to be free.

I am proud of China for housing 55 (56 if you count the Han) ethnic minority groups, even if the Central Government isn't very nice to the Tibetans and the Uighurs. I am proud of China for keeping Mao's corpse for viewing in Beijing even if it has gone a bit orange. I'm proud of China for being so inhospitable towards foreigners that the capital city doesn't even have an English translation to 'public bathroom'. I am proud of China for maintaining her ancient relics, its calligraphy and its art -- and that is the actual, and sometimes only, reason.

I am proud of Taiwan for having the best (junk) food in the whole world and a president who wakesup in the middle of the night to bring his wife to the bathroom.

I am proud of the United States of America because... uhh... my (Chinese) grandma went to the zoo with us and said the most interesting animals were the obese Americans (not my words!). I am proud because the USA houses migrants from all over the globe, but strangely enough has citizens that have no sense of world Geography or foreign customs. Actually, I'm proud because she has ... good TV and commercials?

*Don't flame me for anything I said. I am a proud American even if I sometimes don't know why.

Tortiere (meat pie, Quebecios style) is considered to be very Canadian, and you can get Marmite in most good grocery stores. My dad spreads it on his toast every morning. As for mushy peas, they are my favourite canned vegetable, hands down. I grew up on them.

What about Iceland, for having the first female prime minister?

Anyway, I´m proud of Sweden for the great social equality, the healthcare, the education, the king, the socialist-democrats party, the party system, Göran Persson, and, of course, IKEA.
Other then that, well I guess our meatballs. And pancakes. And the World Cup in ´58. And ´94. And our hockey team (damn canadians, they´ve beat us two years in a row). And for having so feared warriors some time ago (*cough*thousand years*cough*) that people actually told their children ghost stories about them, and warned tham that if they weren´t nice, the
Norse man would come and take them.
But most of all, I´m proud because we have been deemed the second best country to live in in the world, second only to Norway.

I'm proud to tell anyone that I am American. America was the first modern nation to successfully gain independence from a super power. America technicly has never lost a war militarily.(Vietnam was a truce. No matter what ideas you get in your head from glancing into a history book, South Veitnam was taken over after the US left.) The US is one of the few nations that gave the most. The US was the first nation to successfully invade and take over Afghanistan. We later put in a new government once things cooled down there. I'm pretty sure that the Iraqis appreciate losing an insane dictator who held power for so long by holding rigged elections(how can 100% of the people vote for one guy. Maybe an infant decided not to vote for all they know.) and keeping his people in a state of fear. Of course, the US won't leave until the terrorists stop trying to take over Iraq. The US is also less corrupt than the UN. S is a nicer letter then N. After all, insane has more N's then S's.
