I have an opinion...I don't like 'em because I don't like animals.

I like bugs...but not animals.

Why don't they make a bug zoo dammit!

Zoos are great. People get to know more about nature than just watching them on National Geographic or Discovery Channel. And I suspect that many animals get better treatment in most zoos than in the wild.

Whil I'm am kind of against the imprisonment of animals, many zoos have a breeding program for endangered species. Plus, the animals that are in captivity have an easier life than those in the wild and will not get killed by poachers and such.

They're a good thing.

Sometimes taking an animal out of the wild may be cruel, but I think, if they were born there or have been there most of their life, it's their home. How would you like it if somebody came into your house, ripped you away from the dinner table while you were eating with your family, threw you into the street and said, "run! You are free!". I would definitely be pissed.

that;s why i said im slightly against it, it is cruel. but the zoos are making an effort to increase the population of that species, it's a good thing as well.

There are bugs in zoos too. There are usual even bug exhibits, at least at my local zoo.

Yeah, the problem may be just my location. I mean honestly, who's gonna bring a zoo to central New England?

We still have a KICKASS aquarium in Boston though!

...since when are bugs not animals?

As for zoos, I approve of those that give the animals a reasonable amount of space and recreate their natural environment. (When I was little, my local zoo still kept half its animals in concrete boxes. *shudder* Luckily, nowadays it's much, much better.)

Most zoos also tend to be pretty active and vocal in the conservation effort, which also makes me inclined to support them.

If my biology class serves me correctly...Bugs belong to a completely different kingdom...

But I could be wrong, I'm no entomolygist...

The zoo closest to me has a section set aside for insects.

that aside, I want to work as a veterinarian for a zoo.

I think you've misremembered. Insects are most definitely animals. Unless they've gone and become plants or bacteria or something while I wasn't looking. :)
