This thread addresses a topic that is pretty influential to our lives, and yet I have never seen a thread on it.

How many siblings do you have? How many brothers? Sisters? What was it like growing up with them?

I have an older sister.

She's finished a phsycology thesis she did using a large scholarship she got for being rather smart. She used to be really good with helping me with essays and stuff when i was at school.

Four. One older brother, two younger ones. A younger sister. A bloody nightmare.

I have two younger siblings, a sister and a brother. My sister is 1 1/2 years younger and my brother is 4 years younger. They'd always band together against me and I didn't really get along well with them until I moved out :D

Older brother of 2 years and younger brother of 6 years. As I've always been a bit childish and I've spent more time with my younger brother over the past two years (brother in college), I'm actually closer to my younger brother.

One older brother.

It's like, fun... I think... when we were younger, it was perhaps less fun, but now, it's fine. And we both still live in our parents' home.

I have a younger brother. Growing up with him has been hell, but I don't have it in me to hate him. He's had a shitty ride so far, I just wish he was less infuriating so I could be more supportive, but he drives me up the wall! Still, I have the feeling that I'm about to make things more difficult for him.

Two older brothers and one younger brother. I was the only girl, blah. My brothers are pretty big guys (6'4", 6'3", 6'1") so they used to pick on me, haha. They still DO pick on me!

Hmm, 3 years old?I wish. No, he'd still be a baby, unable to walk and thus, unable to wander in when I'm working on something requiring quiet (like homework) and start singing at the top of his voice, then refuse to get out when I tell him to and start jumping on my bed.... *flames begin smoking out of nostrils*

Anyway, he's not the most pleasant person to have around. But he's a whole lot more popular than I am. :(

One little sister, although she's less than 2 years younger than me so sometimes we have more of a twin mentality which is quite cool when we confuse our parents :p
Althought she is always bloody copying me, which contraryto popular belief is not FLATTERING it's PARASITIC

I have one older sister, but my mom and I were talking the other day about how it's surprising more siblings don't kill each other because of stupid things for instance:
When I was 4 I decided I wanted to be a gymnast, but could not even do a cartwheel so my sister said the gymnasts learn to do them by practicing on the steps. Well I didn't land on my two feet actualy I landed on my back. Did I mention we had ceramic tile at the bottom of the steps?

Including my half-brother (who was not raised with us), I have 3 siblings. My 2 sisters and I were pretty close growing up, though they were 4 and 6 years younger than me. We did a lot of things together and for the most part, there was a great deal of loyalty between us. My parents were very much strict authoritarian types, and my mother seemed to derive some kind of perverse pleasure in lording it over us, so it was pretty much us against them. I was glad to have their company.

My mother was the same way. I am grateful for having both my sisters - one older by 22 months, and one younger by 23 months. They drive me crazy, but we would shield each other from our mom. My older sister is very intelligent, very sarcastic and is a virtuoso storyteller. When she is in the house, you usually only hear her voice. She makes fun of me a lot (still, even though she's 33!) but if she didn't I would think she didn't love me! My younger sister is more delicate, the true baby of the family. I always feel like I have to protect her, but lately she has grown some serious backbone, and I am so very proud of her. Loyalty to family may be an Italian stereotype, but it fits the three of us.

Let's just say that we're all pretty tight and very loyal to one-another, but we also can't stand one-another sometimes ;)

And I pity my mother who had to raise us 4 so close together. Musta been Hell for her.

I have a sister who's 10 years and 4 months younger than me. She turned 5 today. She's so cute! If a little loud sometimes. She's starting kindergarten this year, and I'll be a sophomore in high school, and we'll be at the same school, and it'll be awesome. I also have a cousin who's 7 and has lived with us for a few months so she's kinda like an extra sister (also going to our school), but it's kinda different too because her mom is in charge of her instead of my parents. Since there's such a big age difference we don't relate as much as siblings normally do, but I make sure to give her a big hug or ask her about her projects sometimes. If I can afford it I'll even take her out to coffee and bagels. I also try to do what I feel like my parents did for me, by introducing her to advanced concepts that she won't understand now, but later will remember and say "hey I almost know what you're talking about". I love watching her life. I saw her born, I helped to name her, and now I get to see her in school! She got this really cute sweater for her birthday, and I swear one day in November we're gonna coordinate and go to school both in braids and matching outfits.
