Today, August 1, we're celebrating the foundation of the only true democracy in the world.

Our nation was created, back a day when the so-called "supa-powa" america, didn't even know, its land existed ;-)

Happy Birthday.

Unfortunately, the EU is the biggest thread for our freedom and independence since the nazi-reich...

Is it possibly that you are *slightly* biased? :p

Congrats from your big neighbour with the personality problem! :D

Anyways, Switzerland is not even a member of the EU, is it?

It's not. And I hope not to see that day...though I fear, it's gonna happen in some dark hour

When there are no more jobs, no more companies and no more rich people left in Switzerland, cuz they all moved to India (or the EU for that matter)?

What's the problem with the EU, anyways? Unless you're a Christian conspiracist who believes it's evidence for coming of the end times (note here: Bush would be much better example for that), i don't see why.

Sure, they're beaurocratic, they've done a couple of mistakes, but I think the only thing necessary is a change in leadership. (specifically, the franco-german 'alliance' which has been dominating the EU from day one needs to take a seat in the second row).

Because, let's face reality: in the long run, nation states are doomed, that's why Europe needs the EU for it's survival. (Of course certain people in the US and in the Middle East would rather like to see Europe go downhill, but that's a different story...)

Nope I didn't say that... my preference would be seeing Poland, Czech Republic and the Baltic states running the EU. ;)

Ha!
Then i ask for asylum seeker permission in Texas and vote for the Republican party ;-)

Id rather enjoy living in a more right-conservative US-state than in these left-liberal morass with 10 million riffraff around :-/

my only experience of switzerland is a couple of years ago when we were driving home from the alps, and the road took a tiny diversion through a corner of switzerland, but we still had to pay a huge road tax. i think it was about £60 or something. so, in conclusion, switzerland is expensive.

Someone punked you dude
We don't have road tolls. There's only a yearly fee of CHF 40 for unlimited use of highways and that's way less then £60 :-/

that was it, a yearly fee. and my figures are probably incorrect, but it was still a lot of money.
