Uh-oh. What does this mean for the Bush family? I think this is my last post of the night as well.

Oh oh.

This will be interesting. A co-worker who lived in Saudi says the Crown Prince kinda doesn't really like the US.

We will probably be told to GTFO now......

Nothing, I think. King Fahd was ill for a long time, and the king-designate is a not infrequent guest in Crawford.

Very delicate situation on who the Bush Admin sends to the funeral. Poppa Bush will probably go. Michael Moore will probably catch a ride with him.

Prince Abdullah knows he needs our support. We will most likely stay for the time being. And Abdullah has been the one in charge for quite some time now... not Fahd.. in fact King Fahd was far too ill.

This won't mean anything to Bush. Saudi Arabia has had relations with the US far before Bush was in office.

Really? Prince Abdullah was already in power... Fahd wasn't much of a figure anyways.. he was much too weak...

Changes nothing.
Same family, same thinking, same regime. Same money even.

If you're against further wars, you should. IF! (and that's a big if) Saudi Arabia ends up with a power struggle (IE: a rash of assassinations occur, etc.) there is a chance that the place will destabilize and will make Iraq look like Grenada. :(

Grenada, is that that mighty warmongering island of as many as 2500 inhabitants that built up the nuclear power and was plotting and scheming to brutally attach the miserable, vulnerable, peace-loving nation of only 300 million to the north of it, so the latter gathered all its meagre resources and crushed the powerful enemy of Grenada?

Yep. The one the US invaded in the 80s and awarded 50 medals for each Cuban killed, wounded or captured. That Grenada. A war in Saudi would make the war in Iraq look like that.

As much as I'd love to smirk and have a pint over the death of another bastard-dictator...my compassionate self will not allow it.

Hence...I give this: "Fuck 'em!"

So is anyone actually upset about a member of the Saudi royal family dying? I know I'm not.
