To an American, this is like some random classmate asking if you want to marry him/her.

Very much. I'm consider myself Spanish, but I'm actually a mix.. spanish/italian.. my dad's side is italian. I've been to Italy numerous times.. for months at a time. I've been to the North a lot (mainly Venice, Milan).. and throughout the rest of the country for lesser amounts of time.

I'll never forgive Italy for what they did to the Holy See, so no.

As a person who would like to open a restaurant, hell yes! Italy has given so much to the culinary world.

Plus, they're not like all of the other dumbass Eurocommies who hate us and are actually smart and willing to help in the war on Islamo-Fascism.

Italy's alright. It's not my favorite country, but it's pretty cool.

So all the people are damned because of the governments actions?

I'm talking about the actual country, not the government.

As long as I don't have to fight a war with them, yea, I love Italy, especially thier food (and women, but don't tell my French girlfriend).

Being as my entire family is Italian or of Italian descent, I decide to let that slide. At any rate, Italian women are beutiful, but have a tendency to be stocky and short.

To sort it out, I was joking. I have no problem with Italy's military abilities, only people like Cadorna, and every nation has a few in its history.

I married an Italian...So yes. It's the best and worst in one country. Amazing food, and people and countryside but to do anything requires the patcience of a saint...paper work rules.

Italy is possibly the friendliest country in Europe. And yes I do believe that Italian women are among the most beautiful females in the world. Italy is rich in culture as well.

Most nations owe a lot to Italy and to the Roman Empire, you should all at least just for respect not dislike it.

Of course, I'd like it more if Italy was halfway competent when it came to warfare. Haven't won a damn thing since the Empire. Hmm. Next time I'll have to make sure myself.

Italy isn't even supposed to be one country. It should be a bunch of city states.

They won the Italian wars for unification (mostly, with the help of the French, then against the French), and the Crimean War (if you count Sardinia-Piedmont as the natural predecessor of Italy). And the First World War, albeit with a lot of French and British help, but really, if you had leaders who fought in the same damn place fourteen times (Isonzo), would you want to fight. Though they are the only European Power to be defeated by a native African army (Adowa).

I've never been there, but one of these days I'd like to track down my dad's family that is still there. My mom is Ecuadorian, but I feel more Italian. I know it sounds stupid, but I know both my sisters feel more Spanish. I think my dad is happy at least one of us identified with his side of the family!

Not so sure about the people...those I've met weren't too nice. Can't be because I'm Asian, can it?

I feel the same way. I'm only half Italian (and half Swiss), but I don't view myself as half Italian, half Swiss. I view myself as Italian, and Italian alone.

babelfish e il strumento delle persone quale vogliano imparare la lingua, me non la sanno. Non lavora molto bene.

This thread needed more Italian.
