I will ,in the next three months, begin to plan a march to end war and national borders as well. These will be peaceful protests and I hope they grow into a movement. I simply hope for world peace, but I see no steps being made towards it. I hope to bring a new voice to the table. If you want to help in these efforts, I would be thankful for your help. Please post if you have something useful to contribute.
You seem a little optimistic there. ;)

The most misguided thought ever to burrow its way into a hippies mind was that marches and protests ever did any good. Why don't you use all of your energy to figure out what the problems are, and come up with a solution? The only good marching ever did was to say to the world " I have no solutions, but look, I can bitch about it!" You wanna fix problems? FIX THEM! Quit your damn whining!

You are right. At one time, black people in the US were slaves, women couldn't vote, and man couldn't fly.
I wish you every success as you go forward. :)

I agree with your sentiments but think Sick Dreams does have a point. You need to have a plan, otherwise marching and protesting wont do any good. If your want to bring about world peace, first you need to identify the reasons why previous generations have failed to acheive this goal.

I guess with your reasoning, there never would have been an American Revolution?

Um, Americans in the Revolution did take action. It was the whole war thing.

I guess with your reasoning, there never would have been an American Revolution? We didn't march the British to death, we didn't talk the British to death, and we did't protest the British to death. We killed them to death. We took ACTION! We saw a problem, and instead of whining about it, we kicked some ass! So your point is what?
Worldworkers
01-08-2005, 05:45

The American Revolution started out as a PROTEST to taxation without representation, and it progressed to a war.
Obviously, one would not be able to achieve world peace by starting a war? Therefore the alternative is a peaceful protest, and if enough people get sick of the death and destruction that wars have wrought over the millenia, then they just might be inclined to join such a protest.
Just because someone does not agree with your worldview doesn't make them a hippy, and the fact that you seem irritated by peaceful endeavours, suggests that you are nothing more than a war monger who believes the only way to resolve issues is through armed conflict?

Ah, so your solution to the problem of global bloodshed is to 'kill them to death'? Self-defeating, no?

I may be a warmonger, but only because I realize that your "peace" talks fall short of the crazys and the militants of the world. They don't care how many march, only how may die! And its people like me, who are ready to do bad things to bad people, for the sake of good, who are the only ones between you and the ones who wish to see you dead!

Correct me if I'm wrong here but the current crop of 'crazys and the militants of the world' are a direct result of Americans doing 'bad things' in the name of a supposed 'good', yes?

The major problem with folks such as yourself is that you are willing to take up the cause and risk your life in so doing but never fully understanding why there are people "wishing to see you dead"?

Well you did say that it was YOUR personal opinion, so you are thusly entitled to it. However, there might be a billion or two people who would not agree with you.
Protesting pressures the people in power to work towards peace and stuff. It's not supposed to fix the problem itself, but it's one way to help. Protesting protests won't help by anyone's logic.
