Help! I'm addicted from NationStates! I cannot spend so much time on it and I catch myself that I login even if I don't have anything to do! I do it at least once per two hours... and spend 1,5 h on NS... What to do? Anyone suffered from dependancy on NS? Any 'cures' that you have tested? I have a girlfriend but most of the time she is at work... I hope that withdrawal effects aren't to painful...

I spend about 6 1/2 hours during business days on NS for a total of almost 1560 hours so far.... Now THAT is sad...

The power is frequently out in this area, its horrible, I just sit in the dark shaking and muttering about compulsive comsumerstates. So I recently convinced my dad to get a generator.

There's a rumour that if you suffer from power outage / being in a location with no internet connection for more than a month, you can be cured. Well, as much as an alcoholic can be cured....

Of course, I don't believe a word of it.

when i joined i was on all night for about 3 nights. it really styarted to get in the way of work. then work became really urgent and i didn't log on for over a week, and i've only done a few hrs this week.

just tell yourself my siggy and have more urgent things going on in 'real life'.

i hope i've not broken my cure by posting here :confused:

For a while I was, when I was at home and had nothing to do. Go somewhere were there are no computers and it wears off! I promise. You just have too much time on your hands.

it is possible to get away... you will come back - after your first 18 months or so you will get your first trough, answer few issues and lose lots of your subisidary nations - then come back when you see a topic that interests you... this then repeats every 6 months or so...

Or at least that was/is me and most of my RL social group who lasted more than 6 months...

this is true - i spent 2 weeks away without computers (bar one internet cafe/coffeeshop) and was pretty much cured when i came back. i had no desire to come back to NS..... but then i did out of curiosity and boredom, and now i'm right back in the trap. you have to forcibly leave, and then stay away and resist the temptation to return when you have the opportunity again!

I've been on for at least three or four hours today. I must go....to another thread. :eek:

Eventually you just burn out like me and don't post for a while. Then about a month later you come back for real but only for a short time. Then every couple months you come back and post once or twice. But don't worry, I have been here almost 2 years and I still live. but you never achieve the glory you once had.
