Well after decades the IRA claims it has put down its arms for good as of 4pm today. Do people believe it will last?
I think the IRA committee if you will, will hold to it, but there are numerous splinter groups and volunteers who are not going to adhere to this. I think it will benifit the peace process enormously, and it is indeed a 'historic day'. However the position of Sinn Fein will change drastically in the Republic. Several polls taken during the last election in Ireland suggested that sinn fein would receive a drastic increase in votes if the IRA layed down arms, personally its bad enough that Sinn Fein have any seats in the Dail.
